Hi Kelly,
When you install the jim kitchen games, you would hit the context menu key
and go down to run as administrator, you would install the games in
c:\programfiles86, once you get the winkit file and unzip it doing the run
adman part, it will create a kitcheninc folder, then you can unzip the rest
of the games from there.

Subject: [Audyssey] Question About Installing Games Under Windows 7 64-Bit

Hi,

I'm getting my new 64-bit machine in a couple days, which will have Windows
7 Professional installed (rubs hands in eager anticipation). While I'm
looking forward to working with a new, at least to me, version of Windows,
one thing I'm wondering about is where I should install games like those
from Jim Kitchen. As I understand it, there are two Program Files folders
when you have a 64-bit system. Can someone tell me which one I should
install games to, or does it really matter? Do you have to use the
Compatibility Wizard for the games to work, or are they usable regardless?

Also, on a slightly different note, I've had an odd issue with Smugglers 5
running under Windows XP.
The game works fine, but I've noticed that when I quit, the dinging noise
you hear if you press a wrong key appears to be disabled until the computer
is restarted. It's a minor thing, I know, but I like to have all my system
sounds working. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue when playing
the game under Windows 7?

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Question About Installing Games Under Windows 764-Bit

2014-06-10 Thread john

Jim's games will actually throw a bit of a fit if they're in x86. They're
workable, but it takes a good bit of fiddling; thus I'd highly recommend simply
extracting to program files. As to other games, they should run just fine.
The idea behind multiple program files folders is that you have one for 64-bit
applications and one for 32-bit applications.

[Audyssey] Braille Dice

Hi,

As has been discussed on this list recently, there aren't currently the Braille
dice needed to play a game like DD or Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, World of
Darkness games or numerous other RPGs. Below is a link to a Kickstarter doing
Braille dice. It has reached its funding goal. She's going to use a 3D printer
to create the dice.

I agree with you dark.
The issue with dropbox is its designed for sharing of folders and
shared links, thats fine they never expire.
However any public link is likely to get over used, and your
bandwidth cap expires.

When that happens all links are stopped for a little while.
If it happens to much your account is deleted and you are banned from
using or even visiting dropbox.

Dropbox is good for projects but not really good for file links.

At 07:58 a.m. 10/06/2014, you wrote:

Hi John.

I'd rather you didn't use dropbox sinse the problem is dropbox links

That file was a pro download so will download at normal speed, so
there should be no problems with that.

As to confusing, well I don't see what is so confusing about click
here to start download or hitting the submit button.

i've seen some dam confusing file sharing services in my time but

I haven't downloaded this particular file yet, but I will say that
I've had the same issue before; sendspace can be confusing, and the
fact that they limit download speed is far more than simply
annoying. If you'd like, I can put the file up on dropbox for a bit
and post a link. That should give people the option of which
service to use if they so desire.

Re: [Audyssey] Question About Installing Games Under Windows 7 64-Bit

2014-06-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Kelly,

Yes, there are two Program Files directories on 64-bit versions of
Windows. Basically, the c:\Program Files directory is now exclusively
for newer 64-bit programs and the c:\Program Files (x86) directory is
typically where you would install older 32-bit games and applications
like Jim Kitchen's games.

That said, there are some compatibility issues to consider here. If
you have UAC, User Account Control, enabled you won't be able to save
games etc to the c:\Program Files (x86) directory meaning that some
older games may not work correctly because they write settings, saved
games, etc to the same folder where they are installed which causes
compatibility issues. There are two solutions. One, You can disable
UAC, which will make most older games fairly compatible with Windows
7, or you can choose to install them locally to something like
c:\Users\Your User Name\Games which will allow you to keep your
security settings in tact while running older games without
compatibility issues.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Smugglers 5 podcast

2014-06-10 Thread Bryan Peterson
My problem is I try to use the Window-Eyes mouse pointer which is the same
basically as the JAWS cursor and it seems to miss words or letters.

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
thy micturations are to me
as plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee.
GroupI implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes,
And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles,
or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon, see if I
don't!

This game does sound like it could be fun, assuming I can figure out
how Jaws works with it. At least there's a demo, so I can check it
out first. Thanks for taking the time to do a podcast for us, and
offering some hints on how to get around the game.

Jess

Hope you like it allisan.

I must admit I've been a bit addicted to s5 invasion for the last couple of
days, I've just been prmoted admiral and have my own battle ship and am
running around to various star systems fighting off hole fleets of nasty
halkath ships :D.

Hi.

Yes, I got off my big behind and actually did this as I promised. I hope
it's comprehensive enough, though obviously with such a big game I
couldn't

cover everything even in over an hour and a half of podcast.

Download at the below link (just click where it says click here to start
download from sendspace).

Hope people like and that it gives a good luck at Smugglers 5.
