[Audyssey] blindfold airhockey is now out

2015-11-12 Thread joseph weakland
Hello all airhockey fans. Have you ever wanted to play airhockey on your ios
device? Well, now you can cause blindfold airhockey is officially outJ.
Below is description from IOS app store

Blindfold Air Hockey is an fully accessible audio game that's similar to the
arcade game Air Hockey.

In Blindfold Air Hockey, you have a mallet or paddle, and there's a puck on
the playing table. To start the game, hit the puck swiping your finger. The
puck heads towards your opponent's goal, where he knocks it back to you,
bouncing off of the walls as it gets closer to your goal. You block his
shot, and fire the puck back at his goal. The first player to score 7 goals
wins the game.

Using head phones or ear buds, you hear the puck heading towards you, and
you control your mallet by moving your finger left and right. When the puck
is close enough, you'll hear a ding sound, and you can swipe the puck aim at
your opponent's goal.

Blindfold Air Hockey comes with a tutorial level, and 16 different opponents
- varying from beginner to expert.

Blindfold Air Hockey was suggested by several blind gamers who enjoyed
Blindfold Breakout and Blindfold Bowling.

The game comes with coins; you need one coin to play. To get more coins, you
can listen to advertising videos, or purchase coins as an in-app upgrade.

Re: [Audyssey] audio rain maker.

2015-11-12 Thread Charles Rivard
If you found one, then there apparently is such a game, or you would not
have found it.

I'm not sure what the point of such a game would be, but I do not know of
any such audio game existing. The key word is "audio", because there
apparently is such a game, as you did find it. Also, because you cannot
download it has nothing to do with whether it exists or not. Why could you
not download it?

Subject: [Audyssey] Important Message About Me and the List

Hello everyone,

This is a very important message from your friendly neighborhood
moderator and list owner to let you know what to expect over the next
few weeks. Unfortunately, I have some very bad news to share, and to
be frank about it I have held off way too long without saying
anything. The news essentially is this.

For quite some time my health has been in serious decline. I've been
tied up with medical tests, doctor appointments, and other things
dealing with my medical situation thus have virtually no time to
attend to the Audyssey List, working on writing games, or about
anything else outside of my day to day situation. I had intended to
promote one or two moderators in my place to look after the list, but
unfortunately my life has been so utterly crazy of late I have not
even managed to do that. So I hope that all of you can get along and
bare with me as it is likely or even possible over the next few weeks
this list will not have any hands on moderation or oversight as I go
into and out of the hospital for various operations, testing, and so
on. If I can I will try and assign a moderator before I go into the
hospital, but given the time frame I'm thinking that is doubtful. Plus
I would hate to just dump the list on him or her and leave for x
amount of time anyway.

In any case here is the scoop. Thursday I'll be going into the
hospital all day for various tests. The following Tuesday I will be
going into the hospital for an operation, and will probably not have
internet access for a few days as I recover So I do expect at least a
week or so in mid November without a list moderator to look after
things here. I Can see that probably won't be a problem, nor am I
expecting one, but I thought you all should know Justin case you try
to reach me and I am totally unreachable over the next two or three
weeks.

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Thomas Ward

[Audyssey] Portable interactive fiction game playing device/unit

2015-11-12 Thread Jacob Kruger
Am currently playing around with a raspberry pi unit/device, which is
effectively a low-level full linux/debian operating system PC implemented on a
piece of hardware roundabout the size of a box of cigarettes.

It took a little bit of effort to get it up and running/cooperating, and don't
seem to be able to use orca screen reader with it's version of a GUI, which is
x-windows, but, after installing speakUp console screen reader, you can switch
between the multiple console windows, and thanks to Thomas having helped me out
with the relevant commands a while ago, to install frotz interpreter on a linux
system - sudo apt-get install frotz - I now have the frotz interpreter
installed on this unit, and since it runs off micro-USB cable for power - the
same thing most modern smart phones use for charging their batteries - if I
plug it into the portable cellphone charging unit have here, and plug in my
earphones, then I could literally play most IF games anywhere/everywhere,
without having to drain my phone's battery, etc.

Does require connecting a USB keyboard, but, still - besides full-size
keyboard, it's a PC-in-your-pocket.

There's also at least one other raspberry-specific game I know of, but, am also
planning to play around with python code on this unit, etc. etc., so let's
see...

Overall, while it wasn't all that simple to get it up and running, accessibly
on my own, the total cost of what have here now is roundabout ZAR700 = +-$55,
or thereabouts, but anyway.

Stay well
