hi all

okay so I went into a game with 3 bots. I was doing quite well, but now
it seems to be locked. A bot player landed on a property I owned with 4
houses and it seems stuck right now.
Granted if this is only an alpha I totally understand. I had 4 houses on
Mederterainian, Boltic, Connectic and the light blue ones, and the yellow
near the waterworks. Atlantic was when it happened.

Hi all,

I've just added the ability for custom boards to be available in the
newMonopoly game released last night. This was all done server side, so
there is no need to download an update. At the moment, only the classic
board is available. If anyone wants to submit a board, send the board file
to rsga...@inbox.com. The board file must be in the same format as the
classic board file below, just change any names you want changed in your
new

board and send the title of the board as well. When you start a new game,
the game master is now asked to choose a board. Enjoy.

Hi, we are playing the game and I at the beginning of the game got a get
out of jail free card and when I went to jail, I can't use it, I still
have the card but it doesn't show it any where.

Also, the game said that Todd could buy houses with the electric company
as well as water works and when he tried it said you cannot build houses
on utilities but at first it said you could.

Oh but I have to say this is an awesome game and right now so far I'm

to clear up a few things. First, the moo isn't a Miriani clone. Though it
has some of the same concepts, lets face it, a lot of the same concepts, it
will be much expanded. For example, I have coded a combat system, and I will
have weapons etc. The most important thing, though, is that its under
development. From what I've heard, MOOs take years to develop and though I
feel I've made considerable progress it is still a work in development. For
example, the fact of the similar messages, I made it this way so that the
game would work with my Miriani soundpack for testing purposes. I will most
likely have a name change. But the reason this thread was posted was to ask
for ideas and suggestions of things you guys would like to see in a moo that
aren't in current moos. Of course, if there any MOO coders out there, I'd be
glad to have your help. The moo address is jaybird.no-ip.info port .
Remember though, that anything you see is subject to change and I hope you
will give the game a chance even if you don't like what you see at this
moment. Furthermore, if you do not want to play a game that is under
development, don't. I am open to suggestions, not complaints. I hate to
sound harsh, but it seems that certain people expect so much from this game
but in reality it has been in existence for only 6 months. However, it may
turn out that some of you may actually like the game. In any case,
suggestions/ideas are welcome.

Regards,

Mike

Re: [Audyssey] To the developers of Montezuma's Revenge

2008-10-15 Thread Michael Forzano
I don't understand how making an audio version of Montezuma's Revenge is
infringement of copyright. If the name is, why can't you just change it?
Which you did. I sorta lost track after that, I thought it became
Montezuma's Return because of copyright issues, so why couldn't you release
it. And also the levels aren't exactly the same due to the nature of the
audiogame version...So Thomas, I don't think you should let people push you
around like this, in my opinion, it isn't a valid lawsuit anyway. And also,
this game is being made so us blind people can play, not for the purposes of
copying.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
Yeah, taking over Raceway and Montezuma's Revenge has resulted in a lot
of personal grief and misery for me. I've had my reputation marred, I've
been verbally insulted, I've been called a thief, I've stayed up late
trying to get this or that done, and it has just been one bad thing
after another. To ice the cake, so to speak, my apartment management had
us out of our apartment for four months, and unfortunately I didn't have
everything with me to work on the games. As a result I've gotten the
blame for that too, because people want to know why the game wasn't
finished asap.
However, on the bright side of this I really think I can pull a couple
of good games out of the hat. No MOTA won't exactly be Montezuma's
Revenge, but it still will be a side scroller, will be a treasure
hunting adventure, have fire pits to jump over, avoid spike traps, lots
of baddies to fight, and should at least give the person the feeling of
a NES or Atari game.

Michael Feir wrote:
In my judgement, Tom has found the most fair approach in this tricky
situation. It all started out because he wanted to save those of us
who had waited ages for James North to finish Raceway and Montezuma's
Revenge from the crushing disappointment we faced when he decided to
pack it in. That attempted good deed has brought him no end of grief
since. Everyone has had to compromise somewhat. We, the customers,
won't be getting precisely what we originally paid for. However, Tom
is going to give us a new and improved platformer so we'll at long
last end up with a good one of those which is fully accessible. I've
long felt that this genre would be spectacularly suited to blind
people and be helpful to people just getting used to computer games as
opposed to a fully 3d adventure. I'm profoundly grateful to Tom for
deciding to do this. It wasn't an easy decision for him to reach and I
know he has his own dreams he'd rather be working on. Although he has
a lot of creative latitude now, I believe he would rather work on
fully 3d games. Ultimately, I believe we'll end up with a spectacular
platformer as long as we give Tom the patience and good will that he
 needs and deserves.

Due to this whole episode, I don't believe we'll see any developer put
a game up for pre-ordering again. Too much distrust and damage was
done to the whole concept for it to work in this gaming community. It
can work for the sighted gaming world because the companies producing
their games have the financial backing to handle things if projects go
bad on them. For us, we're just too much at the mercy of the personal
life circumstances of our developers. That's a sad thing because it
could have helped established developers finance better assets such as
sound effects and music to put in to their final products. I've just
begun working on an accessible game which I believe will take me
something like four years to create. I'm engaged to be married in
around a year's time to a wonderful woman I've had the good fortune to
find. Anticipating tougher economics after we're married, I decided to
purchase royalty-free music while I still have my own source of
income. That way, she's not going to have to sink any of her income
into what is essentially my dream. In total, I've spent a little under
$400 on the music. During my last attempt to create a game, I spent
around the same on the SFX kit from Sound Ideas. That has around 2
sounds I can legally use. Altogether then, I've spent around $800 on
my dream of creating an accessible game. It helps a lot that I'm
currently single and don't have other financial responsabilities. Most
developers aren't in my somewhat unique circumstances. Unless I
ultimately succeed in creating the game, I'll never see a dime of that
 investment.

What happened to Tom was a stroke of tremendous bad fortune which has
had repercussions for everyone connected with accessible games. I
believe that it has lowered the sense of trust and solidarity in the
community as a whole. It has put everyone more on a business footing
 but

Hi,
Basically people were complaining and complaining about monty and raceway
cause he kept promising release dates and not keeping them. A lot of people
were really flaming. I don't know the details, I wasn't on this list but I
was on the audiogames.net forum and it was pretty bad there so I expect it
was worse on here. Anyway, because of all the pressure he left. There seems
to be something weird about the way he left from what I've heard, if anyone
could tell me the details of that that'd be cool. From what I remember James
North wasn't too good with taking the criticism, I remember emailing him and
getting a not so nice email back.

Dear Mr. Ward,
When you say your Raceway game will probably rock when it is completed
will this rocking affect my computer's stability?
Will it make me sea sick?
As I drink coffee when playing games I hope this rocking will not spill
coffee onto my keyboard as the keys will stick and not work well.
What is the cycles per second of this rocking motion?
Can you have a variable rocking so if the rocking is too much I can turn it
down?
If the rocking is not user adjustable, should I purchase foam pads to place
under the computer to prevent this rocking motion from upsetting my coffee
mug?
If I play your game on a laptop will this rocking motion cause undue
tightness in my lap?

Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

 Hi Charles,
Well, I know in one case, USA Raceway, is actually going to be a bit
better than the original design. James North's version of Raceway was
going to be more or less like the classic Poll Position where you raced
against three other cars on the track. you could select a track like an
 oval, figure 8, etc.
What I want to do with Raceway is make it along the lines of Nascar
Thunder. Complete with a 26 game season, 10 championship races, season
scores, realistic physics, force feedback support, etc. My version will
probably rock when it is completed. So try and not get too bumbed out
over them not being exactly the original. Smile.

be changed. I commend Tom for not letting gamers get screwed.
Gamers, myself among the number, preordered both titles in good faith
from James North, who let all of us down. He also screwed Tom, big
time. Tom is working on rectifying the situation as best he can, as
quickly as he can. Other projects he has plans for are on hold. I
can't wait to see those, too. The games he is working on may not be
in their original form, which bums me out, but I'll get good games,
I'm sure. Hang in there, folks. Don't give up, Tom. It'll get there.

Hi Michael,
That's right. I did change the name to Montezuma's Return, but unknown
to me Utopia Software had created a game with a similar title in the mid
90's which was a sequel to Montezuma's Revenge. In the end they
requested that I remove the game from my web site, and I did so in
keeping with U.S. copyright law.
The second reason I took the beta down is I discovered a huge, huge,
huge bug in the engine that couldn't be fixed by editing a few lines,
changing the name, and reposting the game. As a result I have been
forced to rewrite a good majority of the engine plus all of the levels
to correct the problem. I figured while I am involved in such an
extensive rewrite I should make the levels different, make other changes
here and there, etc to insure any copyright issues never come up again.
As far as not getting pushed around and so on that is easy to say when
you aren't the one being threatened with the suit. Legally enforceble or
not I took it seriously, and chose to do the right thing by removing
anything ddealing with their copyrights.
As far as the new title, Mysteries of the Ancients, goes I think it will
come out pretty well in the end. It features my main character Angela
Carter, and it will still have a definite treasure hunting feel. It will
still be a 2D side-scroller, there will be lava pits, fire pits,
skeleton warriors, healing potions, and so on. Kind of a cross between
Montezuma's Revenge, which everyone paid for, and Tomb Raider Prophecy
which is one of my favorite side-scrollers for the Gameboy Advanced.

As far as progress goes, I'll be coding a new space system, which will be a
major project. It'll lose the Miriani feel and have more of a realistic

I'll address the questions, though they may have been retorical.
The mud I'm developing will more than likely end up creating it's own player

base.
With the builder I have, lots of thought is being put in to it, so I expect
it will spread via word of mouth, and as our actions as an admin, and not
off some other list with angry people.
As for the player base, I'm not cadering specifically to the blind. I am
making it a playable game, and won't be relying on maps and etc, but I don't

expect it to be a blind-only mud; I will work for other player bases, and
incorperate ideas that will gain more players.
As a result, if people decide not to connect because of my comments about
humanity, that's their perogative. I probably shouldn't have said everything

I did, but it was said anyway. There is a difference here, and off-list.
Here, Mike is the civilized human being that others would like him to be.
Off list, he's threatened me with tons of stuff, like being hacked, etc. I'm

not particularly worried about it, as apparently my internet connection
still stays. His antics extend to flaming me (with massive amounts of chars
on other games) etc etc. Now that that's out of the way, and I'm sure we'll
get messages from all his friends denying it all, what was said was more out

of anger than an attempt to kill off another coder in the community.
That's all for me on this thread.

 Hi,
Just wanted to let you all that Humanity MOO is back up and running
 thanks
 to James for the hosting.

 Host: nova.the-jdh.com
 Port: 4000

As far as progress goes, I'll be coding a new space system, which will be
 a
major project. It'll lose the Miriani feel and have more of a realistic
interface and concept similar to Slipgate (the concept of a wide open,
sectorless space with full 3D movement). I also plan to implement an
 energy
system, which will make eating/drinking a necessity. Any other
 suggestions
 would be appreciated.

Miriani and Star conquest are two different games. I know there has been
loads upon loads of confusion about this, so I will point out the
differences. First, however, I will point out the similarities.

The ship system, credits, points, space suits, asteroid hauling, salavaging,

all the same. I'll admit that they hhave cloned this from Star Conquest to
a key, however, without the messages. Even stun weapons probably too,
however, they are named differently.

That, hough, i where the games completely differ. Miriani in any way, shape

or form, with the exceptin of those listed aboe is not starconquest. It is

what is called a sister to it, meaning it's similar, and paralells it, but
it's completely different. From the other activities involved, to the
playerbase, and the hosts, they differ in every way possible. Miriani has
out've local and out've comms, with differences in artifacts, the way
surveying works, recharging, and I could go on. Missions are different
(combat isn't the same, yatta yatta). The hosts of miriani A R E N O T the
star conquest hosts.

Well I'd really like a mud/moo you can do exploring, etc.
I don't want to mess with an rpg like holotrek because I am not going to

a serious all day gamer since this stuff is just for relaxation really.
Until I can get my char reroled in humanity moo or they fix the various
things that happen after death of the char then I really can't use it,
well
I can but I obviously don't have any objects at all.
Miriani is just becomming bad, and I never stayed on it long enough to
really enjoy it, I hardly mastered it.
And the rest, slipgate legacy, etc seem to be offline or going offline.
One thing that was mentioned on the squidsoft community was a moo called
milkeyway 2306 or something, is this still opperating or is this gone to.
I'd really like something that has a scifi feel to it, for casual play.
Also I wander what happened to star conquest there aparently is supposed
to
be a new version but www.squidsoft.net just yealds a blank page.
If scc comes back up I may just join that.

No. Slipgate was Josh's attempt at recreating a better GWSE. He was one of
maybe 2 or 3 former Squidsoft hosts on that project. The Miriani answer to
GWSE I believe is called Stellarum or something, and is still in
development. As in not open for connections last time I checked.

Hi,
This game is a HumanityMOO/Miriani clone. Miriani in ideas/content and
HumanityMOO in code. For example, when you go there you get a receiver only
communicator, just like Miriani. You also have a similar creation system.
Just the areas are different, ship classes, and stargates instead of
jumpgates, but the only activities are salvaging and deliveries (both copied
off HumanityMOO). I'd advise not going there. Miriani has much more content
if you want a game like that.

[Audyssey] Happy New Year From Humanity MOO!

2008-12-31 Thread Michael Forzano
Hi List,

Happy New Year guys.Humanity MOO is now open for public beta! We've added
several new features, and fixed many bugs, and overall made it a much better
game. For those who don't know, Humanity MOO is a futuristic MOO, or Mud,
which involves space exploration, combat, roleplaying, and much more. The
Mud address is humanitymoo.game-host.org, 4000, and the rather out of date
site is at treknet.no-ip.info/humanitymoo.

Enjoy!

Mike

Re: [Audyssey] Battleship / New Client Release

2011-06-16 Thread Michael Forzano

Hi,

Yes that should fix the problem. We think this is caused by old files being
left behind from the old version of the client. Runnning as Administrator is
the quickest fix, but uninstalling the client, deleting your C:\Program
Files\RS Games Client directory and reinstalling will also work.

also note you'll only have to do this once.

Hi,

Got the same error message you did. What I did to fix it was I went to
the

desktop, right clicked on the rs games icon, and selected run as
administrator.

Give it a try and see if it helps.

[Audyssey] RS Games has Released Cards Against Humanity!

2014-09-01 Thread Michael Forzano
Hi All,

I'm excited to announce that RS Games has released Cards Against
Humanity! For those who don't know, Cards Against Humanity is
basically an adult version of Apples to Apples with R-rated cards. For
that reason, you must be at least 18 years old to play this game. This
game has become pretty popular over the last few years and we're glad
to be able to add it to RS Games. You can read more about the game in
the documentation at http://zanosoft.net/zgp/doc/cah.html or check it
out from within the RS Games Client.
Enjoy!

[Audyssey] RS Games has Released Version 2.0 of the RS Games Client and a New Game!

2014-12-20 Thread Michael Forzano
Hello Gamers,

RS Games is proud to celebrate its fifth anniversary. On Dec. 20,
2009, RS Games first began as a meager multiplayer, online version of
monopoly. Five years later, it boasts many popular board and card game
titles such as Uno, Blackjack, Farkle and Cards Against Humanity. We
are excited to announce the release of version 2.0 of the client with
an exciting new feature and several bug fixes. We have implemented a
voice chat system that has been completely revamped from the ground up
using the Teamspeak SDK. This means realtime voice chat during
gameplay. In a few days we will discontinue the voice clips system
currently in place. In addition to this exciting new feature, we've
released a new game, called Toss-up.
From all of us here at RS Games, we would like to thank you for making
us what we are today. Without the feedback and support from all of our
loyal players, there is absolutely no way this would even be possible.
We'd like to wish a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic new year.
Have a wonderful holiday, and enjoy!
The RS Games Team

Re: [Audyssey] RS games on IOS; is that true?

2016-03-01 Thread Michael Forzano
Hi All,

I am one of the developers of RS Games. Unfortunately, we haven't
released an iOS app. We would very much like to release an app in the
future, but we don't have any details on a timeline at this point. In
the meantime, the games are technically playable on iOS using our web
client, though it lacks sounds and is in general not a great
experience. The web client can be found by going to our website,
www.rsgames.org and clicking on "Play using the RS Games Web Client
(In a Web Browser)"

Thanks,
Mike
