Re: [Audyssey] Anyone playing timecrest?
I love the game as well! I had to restart it a couple of times but it all leads to the same thing. My furthest chapter is 6 in the last run. Hello, I’ve been playing the game since July. I’ve played it three or four times at this point. I can’t wait until the next set of chapters is released. I don’t regret spending $6 or 7 on time crystals as the debs have done an excellent job making the game work well with VO. On Oct 13, 2016, at 12:38 AM, dark wrote: Hi. Timecrest is a really awesome game for Ios from sneaky crab games. the game's basic formula will be familiar to anyone who's played games like one button travel or the three minute games like lifeline. You get communications on your phone from Ash, a young mage in Alynsia, a world under attack by falling meteors. ? Ash asks you what to do, and texts you (via his pocket watch), about what's happening around him. Occasionally, there's a pause in the action while Ash goes off and does something in real time (though in Timecrest you can skip this with time crystals, the game's in game currency). So, the game is sort of like a gamebook played in real time from a single character's perspective. ? Timecrest however has rather a lot more with it. First, it has character relationships like the choiceofgames titles, ie, it tracks how well you get on with certain people and gives you scenes accordingly. Then, it has items you can buy in the game for gold and extra options according to what items you have, rather rpg style. ? Finally it apparently has a world map to explore, though i've not got that far along yet. theThe game is also in itself very atmospheric, with a great soundtrack, (it reminds me rather of the final fantasy games), and a compelling story about an uncertain boy trying to realize that his world is going to end and that the grand master mage he believes in perhaps isn't a hero after all. ? Access wise a lot of work has been done with this one, including "descriptive help" buttons on each of the game's tabs, sounds for incoming messages, and even a pronunciation mode for vo that has all the fantasy names written phonetically so vo says them correctly. ? I particularly like the way with this one that things move so unexpectedly, for example right in the middle of what looks like the game's tutorial, someone turns up to try and kill you. ? My only miner cryticism is that while you get lots of exploration options making for replays, often the choices to interact with Ash are basically "be decent" or "Be a right scumbag" though this certainly isn't enough to actually spoil the game. ? the game is free to download and play, but time crystals can be bought for real money as well as for things like following certain characters on twitter (it's actually making me consider getting a twitter account). though for anyone concerned, I'm not finding the time crystals requirement as an in game currency too onerous at all, especially since most of what time crystals can do can just be achieved by waiting a minute or two (indeed I have discovered the perfect combination, reading my book when I'm waiting, then going back to play more of the game). ? So, definitely one to try out, and one I'd highly recommend. ? All the best, ? Hi Kelly, When you install the jim kitchen games, you would hit the context menu key and go down to run as administrator, you would install the games in c:\programfiles86, once you get the winkit file and unzip it doing the run adman part, it will create a kitcheninc folder, then you can unzip the rest of the games from there. -Original Message- From: Kelly Sapergia Sent: Monday, June 09, 2014 5:22 PM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] Question About Installing Games Under Windows 7 64-Bit Hi, I'm getting my new 64-bit machine in a couple days, which will have Windows 7 Professional installed (rubs hands in eager anticipation). While I'm looking forward to working with a new, at least to me, version of Windows, one thing I'm wondering about is where I should install games like those from Jim Kitchen. As I understand it, there are two Program Files folders when you have a 64-bit system. Can someone tell me which one I should install games to, or does it really matter? Do you have to use the Compatibility Wizard for the games to work, or are they usable regardless? Also, on a slightly different note, I've had an odd issue with Smugglers 5 running under Windows XP. The game works fine, but I've noticed that when I quit, the dinging noise you hear if you press a wrong key appears to be disabled until the computer is restarted. It's a minor thing, I know, but I like to have all my system sounds working. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this issue when playing the game under Windows 7? Thanks. Your pretty much liited to just trading, haulage or elliegal missions at the start, but there is combat, mining and farm owning later. One really clever thing about the game though is it's physics and travel system. There were comparatively few planets and such to go to, and all of them had real orbits in X Y and Z access. your travel time was calculated in real time and so you literally had to start your ship off and then wait for it to arrive hours later. Fortunately the travel tools were very useful, as were the various trade indexes. it was a nice idea for a game, but extremely slow, especially as it took literally weeks to get into a ship that could handle combat or get to own a farm or factory, and I'm not sure how much by way of new things to do those added to the game. I will say the community was pretty good, indeed there was a lot of friendly player interaction and though some players did get to be pirates it took such a long time mostly they only attacked people with similarly massive ships, or took out npcs, so no newbie bashing. then again it's literally about ten years sinse I played the game so it wouldn't surprise me if more has been added sinse, actually I hope it has. Sometimes, I try ducking as soon as I land, but then get knocked out by another barrel or something. How do you get past the birds? As for feature suggestions, it would be nice if you could skip the cutscenes at the start of the level, and have more than one life, sort of like in Donkey Kong, where you had three at the start of the game. Plus, you receive a very good chess set adapted for blind players that you can keep, along with the course materials for future reference if you finish the course. I don't know their URL offhand, but you should be able to find it using a search engine such as www.google.com if nobody else can give it to you on this list. Anyway, briefly, bishops, rooks, (also known as castles), and Knights, the King, the Queen and pawns capture pieces by moving to the squares on which the enemy piece rests. Pieces that are jumped by a Knight remain on the board. Check is when your king will be captured on your opponent's next move unless you prevent it by blocking the path or moving the King out of harm's way, or by capturing the attacking piece. If you can do none of these things and cannot prevent your King from being taken, it is checkmate and the game is over.
