Re: [Audyssey] Game Demos

2011-03-08 Thread Lelia Struve
Hi thomas, no worries here, I wasn't about to even think of
reformating, no way. grin

Original message:

Hi Shaun,

No offense, but what is your obsession with reformat, reformat,
reformat, etc. I don't want to sound harsh, but when you get on the
list saying stuff like that it makes you sound like a complete
computer idiot. As a matter of fact reformatting is not the only way
to reset the timed trials, and if you knew half the things you claim
too you would know that by now.

For one thing if you know you are going to do this in advance you can
create a Windows restore point which will back up the registry before
it gets modified. So when the trial ends simply go into Windows
restore and restore your old registry. That's the simplist fix for the
problem.

You can also simply export the registry before installing, and if you
want to run the trial again, uninstall the demo, import your saved
registry, and reinstall it. Again not a big problem if you plan ahead.

If someone didn't prepare in advance it can still be fixed without
resorting to a reinstall. Someone with the skills such as myself can
open the registry locate the keys that caused the timed trial to
expire, and blow them away. Reinstall the game and as good as new.
This method isn't recommended for the average computer user but anyone
with an ounce of programming knowledge who has worked with the
registry before can certainly do it.

Cheers!

Reformat and reinstall the os.
Its the only way to run them again.
This is why these trial game dates are quite bad bsc have this to you
can't reload the game after demo has expired.

To be honest I'm less certain about bsc's wordstrain games, sinse similar,

For instance, there are the games from

word games, and brainiac which functions rather like the word replica game.

Then, there are the two dan Z titles chainlink and search party which are

Jim kitchin's hangman and concentration found at www.kitchinsinc.net.

You might also want to check out www.7-128.com which offer a number of
accessible word games involving deffinitions and unscrambling words which
don't cost much.

This isn't to say you shouldn't buy the bsc games, just if your interested

I for instance am a big fan of bg brainiac, which in concentration but with

Hi Muhammed,

That's because some gamers are impatient, unwilling to wait, and they
expect people to jump when they snap their fingers. When a gamer says
jump the developer is expected to ask how high?

Unfortunately for them, that's not how things work in the real world.
We have families, jobs, our own free time, and they expect us to put
all of that aside just to answer to their every whim. After a while
developers like James North just quit when the pressure got too
intense to deal with. I've felt that way myself a few times.

Cheers!

[Audyssey] Game Demos

2011-03-06 Thread Lelia Struve

Hi all, ok so here is a situation.
I just actually wrote to the tech support of the developer I think its
Justin who sells the word strain games.
what happened I think is that a very very long time ago I wanted to see
what these games were about and the demo ran out. Well, now I'm kinda
back in a phase of games again so wanted to re-try these games and see
if i wanted to buy them. So, I tried downloading the word strain game
and it told me when I tried to play it that the product license had expired.

Does any one know if there is a way to demo a game again?
thanks

Hi Lori,
I've had the same problem with ESP pinball, in fact I've had it with
all draconis and vipgameszone games. I think it may be a problem with
your computer, but you can try contacting draconis about it. I in fact
wish that it didn't have a time limit in days, but minutes instead.
Here's how it would work. The game would let you try the packman and
wild west tables as usual, however it times out after 50 minutes or
so. You can run the game for as many times as you want, however if you
want to play it again you need to reboot your computer. The same would
apply for all draconis games except monky business. I'll talk to James
about that today. And any of you please give me your reg key for self

Hi I used to have a game of pinball when I was really small, just a horrid
plastic one, but I didn't understand the rules. What I'm wondering is are
there any recordings or trails for the ESP Pinball out there, so I can
listen and get a feel for it, rather than stumble my way through a demo
version. Isn't the point of pinball that you move the ball and it lands on
certain numbers? If so, then where does a haunted house or nightmare
table
come into it? Sorry for being very dim on this one, but it would help if
someone could explain it a bit for me. Thanks from Lori.

Beat It Extreme

by Mad Games Inc.

Attention, ladies and gentlemen. Are you in a really bad mood? You
know, are you having the kind of day where you want to just kick
someone's butt just because you feel like it? You just want to
sstrangle your next door neighbor because his dog crapped on your side
walk again? Are you angry at the neighborhood kids because they
through a baseball through your front picture window?

We've got the answer for you. Mad Games Inc. has totally revised the
popular game, Bop It, with a revolutionary new anger based theme. This
handheld device can stand up to hours of pounding and will seriously
take abeating.

Try out the various modes. Slightly angry mode gives you prompts to
punch it, throw it, kick it, and beat it. Very angry mode adds slam
it, smash it, jump on it, and chop it. Extremely angry mode includes
an explode it option that wil detonate this device. Makes a great hand
grenade to throw at your next door neighbor, or your neighbors' kids
when they throw a baseball through your picture window.

Warning! Do not hold this device when explode it is activated. May
cause serious injury or death. However, slip it in your neighbor's
mailbox or your neighbor's trash can and listen to the loud bang.

Sincerely,
Mad Games Inc.

Re: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement

2011-03-03 Thread Lelia Struve
Thomas gaming is always fun, however, I'm sure we are all totally
understanding of how life throws things at us and we have to put things
on hold.
In my opinion, I think you should bring out the beta when all is done
and not worry.

Original message:

Hi everyone,

I know I told a lot of you that Mysteries of the Ancients beta 18
would be done about the end of February. A lot of you have started
asking questions off list what is going on, why isn't the beta ready,
etc and I thought I'd make a quick public announcement explaining
where we stand on things. As so often happens with creating accessible
games as a side venture in our free time real life problems and
issues simply get in the way. This case is no different.

Around a week ago my wife got really sick. We took her to the hospital
where they gave her some antibiotics, and strict orders to stay in bed
for seven to ten days until she felt well enough to get out of bed.
As a result I've had to take over all of the house hold duties such as
cooking, cleaning, and doing simple tasks like fetching my wife a
glass of water when she needs to take a pill etc. The end result of
all of this is absolutely no time to work on MOTA at all. So our beta
18 release schedule is pretty much shot to pieces.

So here is the thing. I could go ahead and release beta 18 now, as is,
but it isn't complete so to speak. Most of the upgrades are done,
level 1 has been updated, but we don't yet have level 2 added to the
demo. So it is really your choice if you want to wait a few days for
me to add level 2 to the game, when I have the time to do so, or if
you would rather just have the beta now without level 2. Any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Thomas Ward

Subject: [Audyssey] Quick MOTA Announcement

Sincerely,
Thomas Ward

2011-03-03 Thread Lelia Struve

Well said bravo.
Original message:

Hi Thomas.
I personally think your far too kind in this. Yes I am greatful you
have informed the community why Beta18 hasn't been released as
announced previously. But asking the community whether they want it
now unfinished or to wait I feel is unnecessary. You as the developer
should do as you wish and what you need to do to satisfy yourself. I
honestly believe this decision should be purely down to you, and agree
that you should not release anything, any betas, any finished product
or anything until you are as happy with it as you ar going to be. Yes
people will mown and complain, but at the end of the day you create
these games in your spair time, for your enjoyment as much if not more
than to make money, so I think your satisfaction is key.
I think you've given the community far too much freedom in saying what
they want from this game etc, and believe it should be your project,
and people will buy it when its ready, regardless of if they have had
input into the game or not.
Sorry for that rant, but this pandering to blind gamers too much gets
on my nerves, mainstream developers wouldn't dream of asking their
customers such a question and people still buy their games. Yes keep
us up to date with progress, but no more.
THanks
RIchard

Re: [Audyssey] ESP Pinball Classic

2011-03-02 Thread Lelia Struve
I have a question along these lines, I at first thought you had to wait
for the scanner to scan something and then use your flippers to hit the
ball that direction, but now that I've been playing these games a bit,
I think I've got it somewhat wrong.
Would I be right in thinking that when I hear the ball come next to
either my left or right flipper I hit the flipper so it can flip the
ball to a certain area on the table?

Hope that makes sense. thanks

I would buy ESP Pinball Classic which contains the 6 original pinball

[Audyssey] Draconis prices can't be found easily

Ok, so I've bought a few games from Draconis, but man I gotta tell you,

Again, before I get yelled at, I honestly did look and only found some

I can't remember where I found this, but someone has an actual price

Subject: [Audyssey] Draconis prices can't be found easily

Ok, so I've bought a few games from Draconis, but man I gotta tell you,
there price list is very hard to find. You'd think if they wanted you to
buy there games, they'd make it a bit easier to find prices? Or, to give
them credit, maybe I'm just not finding it easy.
Again, before I get yelled at, I honestly did look and only found some of
there prices by doing a search on the net.
I can't remember where I found this, but someone has an actual price list
of some games from Draconis and other gamers. Cool thought.
Ok, rant over.

Re: [Audyssey] a strong message about the future of games for the vi

2011-02-28 Thread Lelia Struve

Hi there, I'm sorry but I don't remember your name.

but I did listen to your voice recording and here are my thoughts.
What you can do is instead of burning your bridges what you can or
could have done is talk with developers and make a game of your own. If
you don't like a game, just don't play it. Maybe in your opinion, there
are no games for the Vi so just don't play games, yes, as you said you
like arcade games, but its no ones fault you can't or don't wish to
play the games. Just make a few games you like and I'm almost sure
others will like what you make.

Just my thoughts.

Original message:

Hi Nicol.

What you're basically saying here, to me, is that people should only
consider Jehova witnesses when making games. You and only you.
Calling others without love for goodness because they create games
with violence and supernatural aspects to them is very, very
judgmental. Just because one small bunch of people does not like
arcade games that have violence and shooting, you guys are allowed to
call people who make games like that basically heartless.

Video games have always had some degree of violence to them. Mario
brothers is a good example of... uh, supernatural, I think. Sure the
violence is cartoonish, but violence is violence. So your logic is
very, very flawed.

I am a Christian. I am not the type to preach constantly, but I point
you to the verse in the bible that says judge not, lest ye be
judged. That's a verse that always rang true for me, but there are
times when I judge, despite that. And now is one of them. I think
certain Christian groups need to wake up and realize that the world
does not, and will not, bend to your ways. Simply because you believe
that violent games are a form of delving into the things of Satan
does not mean everyone else believes it. People don't play violent
games because they love violence. I play Street Fighter for the work
it does for my brain, the competition when I play with friends, and
to build skills of keeping track of things as well as reflexes. That
is the same reason I love Shades of Doom, Blast Chamber's shooting
aspects, and Mota. Tom has done a more than exellent job with Mota...
and it saddens me to see it put down, simply because it does not
agree with someone's spiritual beliefs.

Although I am a Christian, I feel the need to say that there are way
too many Christians in this world who think all too highly of
themselves. The majority of us tend to think that the world should
all believe in God, and do anything to enforce that view. Christians
have always preached for peace and no violence... yet what happened
during the crusades? People need to realize that it's the majority in
the world that decides things, and unfortunately, there's other
religions in the world... not just Christianity! Shocker, eh?

I don't like to talk about these things much... I'd rather save my
energy for something else more productive. There's more that I could
say, but I think I've pointed out most of what has to be pointed out.
Am I a believer in God? Yes. Do I believe 100% of everything I hear
from the bible? Not always. Why? Because there are many, many
contradictory things in there and frankly, following the basic morals
of peace and love in the bible are enough for me. I sing and play
Christian worship music, I have Christian friends and I pray on a
daily basis. But I would not go so far as to put down a developer or
anyone else who did something they felt satisfied their target
audience, no matter what my beliefs.

I'll probably come back and say more later. But Nicol, I am going to
leave you and all other christians who might have the same view on
this list with a question. And I urge you to be careful how you
answer this one.

I am currently starting to practice a martial art. It is an art known
as Iaido, and consists of sword techniques used to dispatch an
opponent at the same time you draw the sword, flicking the blood off
the blade and resheathing. I have been going at it for 2 months, and
the fact that it's an art that was once used as a method of killing
does not bother me in the least. Does that make me in any way evil or
unloving? Especially since the philosophy behind the art is never
using it unless you have to, and the teachings of the art are
centered around doing things with full commitment, treating others
equally and acting with honor? Answer that question for me, if you
will. Just something to think about. Anyone else is welcome to ask
questions about the art... though as that is somewhat off-topic, if
you are curious, please email offlist.

Clement.

Hey Hey!!! its ok, you said what you felt you wanted to say, we

Guys, Tom, Justin, please just forgive me!
I am really terribly sorry. sad face.
I am not joking.
Really guys, I made a big mistake.
I should have let my mom listen to the recording prior to posting it.
I realize that I used harsh words.
I am terribly afraid I will be summonsed for character assassination or that
I will be blacklisted with telkom.
If I need to do a recording to apologize in this way, let me know and I will
do it .It wasn't my intention to assassinate anyone's character.
I can't sleep at night, I am terribly worried.
This was my first recording, I chew off more than I could bite.
I wasn't intending in any way to launch a personal attack.
Please can you guys forgive me and move on?
If tom and Raul decides to ban or moderate me, that's fine, I can handle it
although this is the last thing I wish.
As long as I am not going to face a court summons or blacklisting from
telkom, my ISP.
Please forgive me, I learnt from my mistake, definitely!

[Audyssey] Sticky keys?

2011-02-28 Thread Lelia Struve
Hi all, so here I am playing games and loving homerun as you all know
by now. But here is my dilemma and I'm wondering if I can do anything
about this? As sometimes in the ESP games I need to use the shift keys.

Sometimes when I'm running as fast as I can or throwing peanuts or
popcorn at someone my sticky keys get turned on and it beeps at me and
I havde to tab over to cancel. Is there a way not to have this happen?

Thanks
