Re: [Audyssey] [Swamp] Crate Searching Guide

2012-05-08 Thread john
Hmmm, thought I may as well post my large warehouse experience
and how I get crates: The following seems to work ratherr well
(though *not* always)

Starting from the truck, go west to near the stairs, and turn
north to quality control. Check in there by moving to the crates
due west of the entrance. Turn around and head back out the door,
and turn north or northeast. Once you reach the north wall of the
warehouse turn east to check by the window (it may be safer to
stay near the crates rather than the window during the later
portions of missions, and you won't miss any crates through
this). At the electrical sound turn south (or slightly southeast)
to check past the truck and broken doors. Don't go to close to
the metal surface unless your going to drop off crates, as it can
get ugly over there. Continue south to the catwalk and turn west
until you hear main floor announced. From here, turn southeast,
and go until you can hear the fire sound to your right. Turn
south here and check the south dock area. It may help to head
east to the loading dock, but you don't need to unless it's clear
of zombies. Once you've checked south dock, head over to the fire
soun, and turn north until your on the concrete again. From here,
turn west and head along to the wall. What your doing here is
checking in those shelves south of the repackaging entrance, you
may want to face south and use a scoped winchester for this. Note
that if you can here zombies ahead when you make that west turn,
your too far north. You should hit the wall south of the
repackaging entrance when your done with the shelves. Once you've
checked in there, turn northeast so you can get over to the
stairway near repackaging. Turn west up that, and then turn north
once you hit the metal second floor. Run along the crates (or the
window if it's not broken) and then turn east down the other
flight of stairs. This will put you back at the truck if you go
in a straight line from the stairs.
Note that I've entirely skipped the repackaging center. This
is because it's the main place where zombies like to hang out,
and I only go in there if I absolutely have to. In those cases,
I'll head over to the crates directly west of the doorway. This
gives me a chance to back out if it's loaded with zombies in
there, and does let you cover a fair bit of the room.
Unfortunately, there are a few loading spots it doesn't cover,
and for those you'll just have to clear the zombies. Note that
they really like that first window on the south side of the room.
While it certainly doesn't take all of them, you may want to use
the northern side as a staging point for your attack unless that
window is also broken. Also, I find that many of the crates like
to load in the south dock area, or near quality control.

Greetings Gamers.

Below is reposted a topic on the Audio Games forums. Hope you
find it useful and informative.

The only viable method of crate hunting in the big warehouse is
to check everywhere. If you have a team of at least 2 players,
divide up your team, with some of your team searching the
northern section while others search the southern portion, with a
couple freelance roamers that check the areas in between
(assuming you've 3 or more team members).

If you're running the small warehouse, there is a distinct
pattern you can check.

Head south from the truck to 87, 74. From here, you're at a 4-way
intersection, with two search patterns to choose from.

Pattern 1:
A. turn right (West) and run to 44, 47 (Storage). You'll hear
equipment right next to you.
B. Turn south and run to 44, 74 (Parts Inspection). You'll need
to be quick and snappy here, since this room can get quite busy
once the window breaks.
C. Turn left (East) and run to 104, 74. Depending on which doors
have broken, this area can become very dangerous.
D. Turn left (North) and run to 104, 47. You'll hear equipment
right next to you.
E. Turn left (West) and run to 44, 47, closing the rectangular
pattern.

Pattern 2:
A. turn left (East) and run to 104, 47. You'll hear equipment
right next to you.
B. Turn south and run to 104, 74. Depending on which doors have

right next to you.
E. Turn right (East) and run to 104, 47, closing the rectangular

These patterns won't guarantee you'll hear every crate, but it
does give you the maximum spatial exposure, which means you'll
hear a good majority of them. You'll still need to check
offshoots, and you'll definitely run

instinctive, and you'll rarely need to even check your coordinates.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Always looking for helpful tips and tricks. This one I knew. You taught me
this awhile back. Just out of curiosity, where on audiogames.net was this? I
have read all of the swamp postings, but don't remember seeing this one
there.

Thanks.
