Sorry for my ingerence but do I trim while I'm in the original mesage or in
the reply part? I've had to do this for other lists as well and I am no sure
how to do it effectivally with outlook distress. Thanks.

Well, you can't edit the original message so what you have to do is do
the reply as usual with control+r or whatever the reply command is for
the email program you are using

Being a philosopher, I have a serious problem with rambling. Therefore this
is something I do fairly frequently on this list.
You need to remove the original message when your writing the reply sinse
you can't delete text from a mail you've recieved. to delete all the text,
