Re: [Audyssey] Much easier Japanese Game Translation

2013-01-22 Thread Paul Lemm
Hi, Shadow dragon,

ages ago you posted an mp3 demo of a game called shadow line. The demo you
did was really good and the game sounded really awesome, but the thought of
copying everything into google translate seemed a little to long winded.
With this new add on for NVDA though I would really like to try the Shadow
line game, do you know where I can get the game from?

Hello,

This is for those of you that have wanted to try out the japanese games, but
don't want to go through the hastle of pasting everything into google
translate. It's also a lot easier to set up.

Note that you will still need to install the japanese keyboard and IME for
this to work properly.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2658966/Instant-Translate-2.1.nvda-addon

Download this Addon and run it to install it into NVDA. If it tries to
download as a zip folder for whatever reason, set your filetype to all
files, and add the .NVDA-addon extension to the end of the filename. Credit
goes to Sadavoi Alexi for this awesome Plugin.

Now once you have your computer set up to display japanese correctly,
including changing the system locale, all you need to do is go to instant
translate settings in NVDA Preferences and set your input language to
japanese. Do not use auto detect, as sometimes it tries to translate as
chinese, which really does not work very well. Then you just select your
japanese game of choice that has the auto-copy to clipboard function and
you'll be able to play fine. NVDA shift T translates selected text, NVDA
shift Y translates text from the clipboard.

I don't think there could be a simpler way to play these games. I hope this
introduces some new people to the awesomeness that is the japanese
audiogames, and I hope you all enjoy. If anyone needs help with anything,
either plug-in or game related, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

What I find amusing about this message is that the PlugIn uses google

using the detect language option on google translate and having it try to
detect japanese as chinese.

As for translating menues, just be glad you have the PlugIn now and didn't
do it the way I did when I was beating all of morokuma's games. I had to
paste each menu option into google translate, and it got especially bad for

I doubt that would work very well with equipment and item lists, you'd still
have to do a lot of counting and good luck memorizing all that.

And I found it by luck, someone mensioned it on twitter so I googled it and
found this. But like I said it just came out, or at least was posted
publically, about 4 days ago. So that could be why you've never heard of it.

better with it since I can actually realistically equip my characters
without it taking 4 hours, haha.

Just gave it a wirl... and I have to say so far, for all the things I've
tried, the translation is superb. Not entirely accurate for sure... but
definitely better than google! The only downside is having to ask for
translation in menus. lol But this is definitely a good tool for the
folks

who don't speak Japanese. Actually... even those of us who do who aren't
fluent might be able to learn from this.

Re: [Audyssey] Much easier Japanese Game Translation

2013-01-18 Thread Clement Chou
Well, I've never done it the translating way... I've always just relied on
my Japanese knowledge, so this clipboard thing actually slows me down. lol
But for anyone who doesn't already know the language, it's a fantastic way
to get in to those games.

What I find amusing about this message is that the PlugIn uses google
translate for it's translation, lol. Maybe where you ran into problems was
using the detect language option on google translate and having it try to
detect japanese as chinese.

As for translating menues, just be glad you have the PlugIn now and didn't
do it the way I did when I was beating all of morokuma's games. I had to
paste each menu option into google translate, and it got especially bad
for item and equipment management. This PlugIn makes it much easier, easy
enough that I've decided to give Brave of Cloudia another whirl and am
doing a lot better with it since I can actually realistically equip my
characters without it taking 4 hours, haha.
