Re: [Audyssey] Sryth was: Q Nine Instructions
Hi Bryan. You must've started Sryth slightly earlier than I did, as I first began in january of 2005. I admit I was probably a litle too strong in my E-mail, I just am rather sorry to see a game I've had so much fun with become rather grasping as I believe it has. Ce I am enjoying a lot, but I tend to like exploration so it sutes me. Beware the grue! I personally am still quite happy with the game, and I've been playing since October of '04. Sryth is not only the first truly accessible online RPG I was ever introduced to but it's the ONLY one that's consistently kept my interest in all the time that I've played it. Neither Kingdom of Loathing nor even Core Exiles has managed to do that. Then again I'm more of a fantasy fan than a Sci-Fi one so it's not entirely surprising that I eventually lost interest in CE. But Sryth has always managed to hold onto my interest. True I do manage to access most of the content but in all honesty I don't donate all that much and not often. Anyway you don't have to buy a residence to enjoy most of the game. I just think of the adventures associated with them as, for lack of a better term, side effects. And anyway there really aren't many of those yet so you really aren't missing much. Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza? Vender: No pizza. Ce is also a business, and works on the same model as Sryth, in that you subscribe to get some basic bennifits such as extra fuel, then can buy game extras. One of their key tennits though is game extras must never unbalance things, so no fueling your combat ability with power alone. Also there is no urge to donate to get extra content, as with Sryth and the quests. I'm actually rather sad to see where Sryth has gone, being as I played from 2005 onwards. I admit though, when I start up the game and told I need to pay At's to access a quest via buying a residence, or that my melee rating needs to be another 20 points higher which just won't happen unless I donate even more cash, I decided it was too much, and that from somebody who has already donated significantly to the game. I do drop in occasionally to see what can be done, but not too often I admit. If it sounds as if I'm being unreasonable, bare in mind the mechanics. 20 dollars a year, and the game has at least 5000 paying customers or more, What's the need to squeeze for more money. Donation bennifits to games should be just a nice thank you, not a necessity for getting game content. I have a mind to E-mail the Gm and express my dissatisfaction with the game at some point. Re: [Audyssey] Sryth was: Q Nine Instructions
Well I'm not the GM, but if I know him he'll give any criticisms or whatnot that you send him their due consideration. To be quite frank I think the real problem is those people, few though they may be, who donate so much that they're able to buyevery high-end item Tallys' offers, then level up all skills and powers to 100 on the same go. Then they blow their way through what would otherwise be a reasonably challenging adventure and complain it's too easy. In his efforts to balance that out the GM may have gone a bit overboard. But if I know him at all I don't see him dismissing your comments out of hand if you did write him. Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza? Vender: No pizza.
