[Audyssey] flail was howlers

2012-01-27 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi folks,
I didn't look at the subject line, so to make it work,
I bet Jim could howl while swinging his flail at assorted things in his
apartment.

Stacks of junk mail.
Rotten tomatoes.
Empty bottles of coke.
Stacks of old cassettes.
And for the sound of flail hitting armor,
hitting an empty tin coffee can.

Wow Jim,
Talk about inspiration! You should do a medieval game and you could add
real flail sounds to it!
Sort of like an Oregon Trail but with Knights and horses instead of a
wagon train and guns.
Or you could use the baseball bat swinging code and have you swing the
flail at bad guys!

smiles,
Phil

Hi Johnny,

I love going to the local medieval faire because they let me pick up and
look at all of the medieval weapons. You know all of the swords, battle
axes, flails, maces etc. I even bought a flail this summer. The wooden
handle is about a foot and a half long and on one end are two chains
about a foot and a half long with two heavy spiked balls on the end of
the chains. The handle has a leather grip and a chain wrist strap loop.
But man some of those swords and other weapons sure are heavy.

Re: [Audyssey] flail was howlers

2012-01-27 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Phil,

You know I now use my Book Sense XT machine with a pair of stereo microphones
to record sounds for games etc. You know like the naked dice and many of the
projectiles in Awesome Homer level 3. And the flail is a real weapon. If you
were to swing it with any force and hit a person without armor it would kill
them. Even with armor it might. But so, I am not swinging that flail anywhere
near my Book Sense XT machine, or anything else that I might not want to
totally destroy. As a matter of fact, if you have ever played with numb chucks
or a bullwhip, you know that you very easily can hit yourself. The same with a
flail. If you swing it and do not connect correctly, the thing is going to
come back around and hit you. And with heavy metal spiked balls coming at you
with force... Not something that I really want to do.

I can't believe that they actually do mock fights at the medieval faires, but
they do.

BFN

Jim

I bought some fish oil, because my fish is squeaky.
