No idea since never even tried out vista, but it's definitely better than
mary, mike or sam, and that's the only voice it seems to have by itsself/by
default.

I still sometimes prefer using scansoft voices for certain types of content,

2010-01-04 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Jacob,
I found out that the Anna voice is also part of
Microsoft Streets Trips 2010
So anyone with XP can get the Anna voice by buying this program.
However I don't know if the program is accessible.
And it costs about $37 USD so is more expensive to get just for the voice
than those from NextUp.com

2010-01-04 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi,
For some reason the volume for Microsoft Anna is typically pretty low,
but you can raise the volume somewhat by adjusting it in the control
panel. If you go into the control panel and go to the speech settings in
that dialog there is an option for adjusting the audio output for Anna.
Press enter on the audio output button and tab to the volume button,
press enter, and crank the volume up to the max. Sorry, I don't have
Windows 7 sitting right in front of me at the moment so I can't give you
step by step details right now, but if you still need more help when I
get on my laptop I'll write up more detailed step by step instructions
if you need them.

Hi Phil,
Actually, there are two volume controles involved here. There is the
volume controle your screen reader uses and the default one used by the
Sapi Engine itself. If turning Jaws, Window eyes, etc up doesn't help
always check the default volume settings for the Sapi voice in the
controle pannel as well.

Hi Munawar,
Oh, the Sapi speech settings are still in Windows 7, but are located in
a new location just like everything else in Windows 7. It is hard to
find certain settings, because Microsoft started relocating everything
in Vista and continued the confusion under Windows 7. So sometimes it
just takes poking around and finding where they put everything in the
Win 7 control panel.

Cheers!

I found out that the Anna voice is also part of
Microsoft Streets Trips 2010
So anyone with XP can get the Anna voice by buying this program.
However I don't know if the program is accessible.
And it costs about $37 USD so is more expensive to get just for the voice than
those from NextUp.com

No idea since never even tried out vista, but it's definitely better than
mary, mike or sam, and that's the only voice it seems to have by itsself/by
default.

I still sometimes prefer using scansoft voices for certain types of content,
or espeak voices for some other languages.

Hi Jacob,
Do you know if the Anna SAPI voice was changed from Vista to Windows 7?
Does Windows 7 have any new SAPI voices?
thanks,
Phil

Just tested winfrotz TTS on my windows 7 work machine, and it seems
alright,
along with the new MS Anna voice, so while still haven't figured out how
come it won't work on my windows XP machines, no matter what I try, it
does
seem to work on my windows 7 machine.

I went in there where the voice for narrator is located, inside the control
panel. Anna is already cranked up to 9 which is the highest it lets me go.
So she should be screaming her lungs out by now, but she is not :)

Hi,
For some reason the volume for Microsoft Anna is typically pretty low,
but you can raise the volume somewhat by adjusting it in the control
panel. If you go into the control panel and go to the speech settings in
that dialog there is an option for adjusting the audio output for Anna.
Press enter on the audio output button and tab to the volume button,
press enter, and crank the volume up to the max. Sorry, I don't have
Windows 7 sitting right in front of me at the moment so I can't give you
step by step details right now, but if you still need more help when I
get on my laptop I'll write up more detailed step by step instructions
if you need them.

well, anna works great with games that use sapi 5 and she isn't low when using

it is pretty good. Of course you can turn down the system sounds so that
they don't blast over Anna, but that's not worth my time I feel--just to use

Hi,
I'm not talking about Windows Narrator. Windows Narrator is a cheap
screen reader for Windows 7 that ships with the OS. What I'm talking
about is the settings for Sapi 5 in the control panel. There is a
difference.

Cheers!
