Re: [Audyssey] Is this thing on?

2011-08-11 Thread Thomas Ward
Hello Sylvester,

There has been no disruption of service regarding the Audyssey list.
There has been mail going through without disruption for a long time
now. So whatever seems to be the problem with you recieveing mail from
the list is most likely on your end of things. In the future if you
want to find out if the list is working it would be a good idea to
look at the list archives by date and see if what you recieved matches
what is on the audyssey archives. If you haven't recieved mail that is
in the list archives then there is either something wrong with your
subscription which Damien or I can fix, or there is some unknown
problem with your ISP or e-mail provider.

Hi Josh,
They are both ideas, but about the second one... Sony? Do you really think
they'd buy it? From what little I have heard they'd think it was a joke or
not worth it and simply not even touch it. I like the first idea, and think
it could work, but for one thing. There are plenty of other ways that
sighted people can make games, and possibly get a larger profit.
Best Regards,

Hi,
Again that's very unlikely. The Genesis Engine has no graphics
support. Which means it wouldn't apeal to a sighted gamer or a

their own game engine that is further along and far more advanced than
my engine will be.

Re: [Audyssey] this blind thing

2010-03-07 Thread The Kolesar Brothers
Now I agree with Chuck.
List the games and where to down load them.
Also, list the podcast walk throughs of the games and where to find them as
well.
I've always said the following.
99 percent of the sighted world needs to do the following.
Put on a blindfold and have us take their carkeys away from them.
Now see how they use the remotes to their stereos, their TV sets, Their DVD
players. Wonder if they could get around their own homes with the lights
out? SMILES.
Its funny but it is sad.
Roughly 99 percent of the sighted just don't know us. If they don't work
with someone or have a relative in their family with a disability, they
don't know us and don't want to know us.
Now for the one percent that truely know us has to educate the 99 percent
that don't.
I'll share a story with my fellow gamers.
My brother Matt and I have lived where were at for twenty years now.
our long not seen Aunt came down for a visit with her new loud mouth know it
all of a husband. Matt and I are constantly going up and down stairs running
arans and what have you for our mother.
Now we all have our safety clues throughout the house that the sighted don't
pick up on.
We have a throw rug at the top of our stairs. I think this is the only clue
that we have in the house.
The funny thing was this.
Our new Uncle saw us running up and down the stairs and what have you.
He stated, you sure do know your way around the house. Well, wouldn't you
after living in the house for roughly ten years at that time?
Now come on now. If you need a cane or a dog in your own home after ten
years, you're in serious trouble.
I know most of us were brought up knowing that the only stupid question is
the one never asked or thought of asking since we've probably heard them all
by now. We can usually tell if someone is asking a question to be mean
towards us or would like to be educated to help someone that they might run
into on the street.
This is why the supply and demand of almost anything for the blind is so
expensive and in so low of supply. The sighted world just don't want us.
I was in a school for the blind for roughly two years back in the 70's.
Luckily ma saw how depressed I was getting from being in a school with so
many multi handicapt children.
It was no pinick and we all have our war stories from being in a regular
school system.
This is because the sighted world doesn't want us in their world.
Just my two cents worth on this topic.
Ron who now needs to go feed the dogs.

Hi all

Not exactly the exact thing but along the same lines.
There was an old car rally at the local blind educational resource centre in
new zealand.
It was a rotery thing anyway.
So you got in your old car and you drove the car.
Thats fine.
You however don't know where you are going.
There is a blind person sitting next to you with braille instructions.
It only happened once but it was quite cool
So for a change it was the sighted person that had to listen to the blind man.
Not that I had it easy.
I had to make sure I did not read to fast or skip things.
I only had this happen once but it was a good thing.

Good idea, but I'll bet it wouldn't work.

Another idea would be to list the sites where games for the blind can be
downloaded, then describe, in brief, the idea of game play, and maybe a
detailed walk-through of a short game. Even if it does no good, it might be
fun to do.

Hi guys,
Just an idea. When I was looking on the game spot stuff, I saw them on
youtube. Here is the idea. How about we make a review of a blind game, and
uplode it to youtube. Then in that way, they will understand that blind
people could use computer, and they could take a little lesson.

I'd be doing that also.
On that note After listening to the blind pilots project with iyp I can imagine

And suddenly telling the system to switch to blind mode maybe putting in my

Hi,
I doubt it. The fact of the matter is sighted gamers have no interest
in games if they don't have lots of cool graphics and nifty animation.
BGT is primarily a game engine with audio and speech support. The cool
killer graphics aren't there and therefore wouldn't apeal to a sighted
market at all.

Re: [Audyssey] this blind thing

2010-03-07 Thread shaun everiss
I have not played for ages but I do it mainly to keep my strat skills in shape
its not got really any replay value but I use it as a simple training tool
because of its randum nature.
its got a simple stat engine and you need to do calculations in your head.
ie if the defence level in a char is lower than you say by 2-3 points then you
may have a chance at him, if 1 or equal then even.
if 1 or 2 up maybe but any more and you have had it.
And ofcause there are monsters with high attack and low defence and the other
way round.
the castle battle is a bit overkill, but the graveyard and village battles are
the ones I am talking about especially graveyard.
I know for example that a sertain monster has a blade and he is a minor boss.
and sometimes I can waste him but sometimes its even and somethimes its real
hard.
I also know that there is a monster that if I look has armour to die for but
to get it off him I need to ingage in a long battle and the guy takes loads of
dammage.
One thing I like about lc is the fact that all the monsters in the centre
branch you need to kill, these are the core monsters.
the rest you can if you want but you may miss things if you don't.
Then there are monsters like the unicorn that you actually don't get a level
rec on.
in which case you need a reasonable high level.
firstly you need to get there without angering them then hope you are strong
enough to kill it else you have half your health cut and your potions
comfiscated.

I've told her that because of your job this isn't a great time and to be

I hope you don't get too discouraged about this.

Perhaps if your having E-mail issues with checking the Lworks mail there's
something that could be done to help, for instance a topic for key

While obviously with your job things are going to slow down slight, i'd
really hate to see Lworks close completely over this, both because of the

audiogames.net asking for keys, see
http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=2627p=2

I've told her that because of your job this isn't a great time and to be
patient, but I thought in fairness I should mention it here as well.

I hope you don't get too discouraged about this.

Perhaps if your having E-mail issues with checking the Lworks mail there's
something that could be done to help, for instance a topic for key
requests in the visitors room of the audiogames.net forum (people can post
there without registering), assuming that would be more easily
checkable than your E-mail.

While obviously with your job things are going to slow down slight, i'd
really hate to see Lworks close completely over this, both because of the
great work you've done in the past, and because while the site and such is
stil open there's always the possibility you could do more game
developements in future, even if at a much slower pace.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Agreed. It's all taken care of. He has a key, and we're all happy. No
need to keep rubbing the point home.

How about we leave this topic alone. He's already apologized for his
mistake. Let's make the mods' job a little easier, shall we? Thankyou.
Thankyouverymuch.

You ask how to krack judgmentday in a list where the developer is...
That hurts...

Claudio.

2008-12-07 Thread Liam Erven
Dark. I don't have much time to go over there. If you could tell people my
alternate email address is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
That would be great.

I'll have to sort out this email problem this week.

[Audyssey] interesting java thing

2008-03-11 Thread shaun everiss
Interesting tom.
I can and have removed an old java install from here.

It seams that the app I use to manage my stuff addremove for good is not
detecting some of the stuff it should.
in most cases it works fine.
However in this case its only detecting the removal button as the change button.
In most cases this works, however when there is a seperate remove for the java
thing using probably a seperate program well. the program don't work right.
THe other way does though.

[Audyssey] one more thing

2008-02-09 Thread ari
One other thing for the article which I forgot to mention, the problem that
some text games need you to see graphics to solve them, an example would be
the Quest game about you in a hotel trying to solve a murder. If noone with
more experience has the time twrite the article, I'll be happy to try, but
I'm worried it will not be accurate.
