Yeah, one can run my games without the game menu program, but as you said the

Re: [Audyssey] Jim's Monopoly question

2008-12-16 Thread dark

Hi Jim.

It's just a personal thing probably, but I do like reviewing boards etc, and
I wasn't thinking in terms of real time play over Skype or chatrooms, but
play by mail, forum etc.

As to the links on audiogames.net, each entry does have a link directly to
your homepage, I've also included text about and a link to download the
winkit file on all the game pages, so hopefully people shouldn't get too
confused.

The other nice point, is that with the new favourites system, people can add
your games, - or anyone elses to their favourites list, and the list of
who favourited what appears at the bottom of each page as a sort of
popularity wrating system.

Hi dark,

I doubt that when people are playing monopoly in chat rooms, Skype
conferences etc that the game master or mistress is relating what happens
on each turn. Pretty sure that actually all people involved hear the play
from the gm computer. So a player just needs to ask the gm to use the

Oh wow, look if I roll a 5 I will land on free parking and collect 1,957

Oh wow, if player number 2 rolls a 3 they will land on my boardwalk with a

Okay Jim, fair enough, it's your game afterall, it was just a thought.

as to the winkit file, one reason i wanted to update the entry pages for all

said, all of them now contain information on the Winkit file, so
theoretically people shouldn't make that mistake as often, - of course

You can actually run the games without installing the Winkit file. I used to
do that all the time before I realized that the Winkit file actually
organizes the games into a workable order. Before that I was always having
to go to the c:\program files\kitchensinc\game name folder (I usually
created that last manually), in order to play the game. As I'm sure you can
imagine that got annoying real fast.

Re: [Audyssey] Jim's Monopoly question

2008-12-15 Thread dark

Hi Jim.

Yes, both the quick tour and check assets options are really handy, but once
again they'd only be useable by the person actually running the program. All
the other players on E-mail or wherever couldn't have access to those
options.

As for setting piece movement being a cheat, yes it could be used as such
(though imho would be slightly pointless as the random aspects of monopoly
are the things which make it fun), but would also let play by E-mail or
forum games with people running the same board setup possible, which imho
would make the program a lot! more fun, sinse games with multiple
opponents are great, and the ability to have more of them in a
correspondance fashion would be cool.

Btw, you'll be pleased to know that all the kitchinsinc entries on
audiogames.net are now up to date completely, with links to all accompanying
files, game explanations and the correct genres.

I'm slightly sorry if the nfl description is just a litle thin, as I've said
before, I'm not great on sports knolidge generally, - particularly of
American sports.

Hmmm Jim.

the Ai programming does make sense, though I do admit I would sometimes like
multiple monopoly opponents to play against.

The master option didn't actually occur to me, though certainly on the
occasions i've played winlife or monopoly myself with friends we've only had
the one person typing, and I can see that method working in live chat or
skype calls.

On the other hand though, it might be a personal thing, but I do like to
physically look around the board and see what is or is not free, check how
much catch I've got as opposed to my opponent etc. Pluss, for play by E-mail
or forum mail monopoly, i couldn't really imagine using a master and several
others.

I ttherefore put the dice rolling thing to you as a suggestion, perhaps
combined with the ability to have a text file of the board setup either
saved or spoken, which players could pass around if necessary.

If this would be a pest to do or nobody thinks it's a good idea, fair
enough.

Hi Dark,

game master running the game and doing as the player wants on their turn.

Now as I said to Ari about the multiple computer players in the game.
The thing is, the artificial intelligence for multiple computer
players is beyond my artificial intelligence programming ability.
Truthfully it was a real strain on my brain just to have one computer
player. Now to have more than one and have them do things like
initiate and make trades, I just don't want to put my brain over the
edge and it still not work out. I mean it took several versions just
to get one computer player to play and not have lots and lots of
complaints about it's abilities.

[Audyssey] Jim's Monopoly question

2008-12-13 Thread ari

Hi
I know this has probably been asked before, but I don't know in what post.
My question is, why can't monopoly be made so that you can have a computer
player even if you don't choose a one-player game, or even, why can't you
choose for the fun to have multiple computer oponents, example, a
four-player game made up of you and a pal, plus two computers? I'm asking
because I've installed monopoly for a friend, and, because she often plays
by herself, she finds it boring to always just play against one computer.
