Hi.
Monkey Term, Vip Mud, GMud, Mush Client. You can find links for the first three
options att http://valiant8086.x-sight-interactive.net/games
I recommend Monkey Term, it is an older free and open source client that's
pretty powerful. MTScripts installs on top of Monkey Term and causes new
connect files, also known as xml files, to have automatic speech support from
the get go. It has sound playback support too, can do pretty much anything but
it will probably be suitable for the basics as well. Works with jaws pretty
nicely. Also works with window-eyes and SAPI. The help information on MTScripts
needs a lot of work though. Monkey Term isn't in development any more, but I'm
still updating MTScripts frequently so it still gets new features and such from
time to time. GMud is now pretty difficult to use with jaws because jaws wants
to read the window automatically but does a bad job of it. Mush client is
another good option. Mush client is still being updated but I don't think Mush
Client has had anyone provided an installation for it that talks to jaws from
the get go. It's pretty easy If I'm not mistaken generally what you need to
build a new file in Mush Client that you'll use to connect, you have to write a
trigger and import a script that has commands in it that the trigger you write
makes. With Monkey Term all you do is hit ctrl+n, type in your session name,
tab to your address, tab again tto port. then hit enter, now the save dialogue
comes up and you shift+tab and browse to where you want to save the file,
generally in c:\program files\monkeyterm\files and save it there. After that
you're ready to go.
You could probably try mush client, MonkeyTerm, vipMud, GMud, all of those
until you figure out which one is your favorite. VipMud is shareware, which of
course means it's not free, but it lets you use it for like the first 30 or 60
days or something like that with no ristrictions, then it turns on some
ristrictions and you have to restart it every hour, sort of like jaws's 40
minute demo in that aspect, cept you only have to restart the client, not the
computer. All of the other options are free.

Subject: [Audyssey] New Harry Potter mud free mud clients
Hi,
I'd like to try and play the new Harry Potter mud talked about on this
list, even though it's been years since I've played muds. Not since my
Dos days, in fact.
Anyhow, can anyone recommend a good and free JFW compatible Mud client?
I can't afford to be buying any new programs now.
Thanks.
~Ann
