Some first draft thoughts on how a basketball game would work. Defense:
Your opponent is running down the court. You have to stay between him and
the hoop. If he jumps up to make a shot, you have to jump up to block the
shot. If you block it you now have the ball and are on offense. If not,
the program should calculate the likelihood of whether the attempted shot
would be successful or not. The closer the offensive player is to the hoop,
the more likely the attempt will be successful. If you allow the offensive
player to run into you by stopping your movement, you are charged with a
foul. If you foul for the sixth time during a game, whether you are on
offense or defense, you are out of the game. A foul is also charged if you
touch your opponent whether you are on offense or defense.
Offense: The opponent is blocking your progress down the court. You have
to use alternate keystrokes to bounce the ball and take a step forward,
known as dribbling. If you don't bounce the ball after each step, it is a
turnover and you are on defense. You have to maneuver around your opponent
and catch him off guard to jump up and shoot. The closer you can get to the
hoop, the more likely you will score. If you run into your opponent, it is
an offensive foul, which is also a turnover.
The game is divided into 4 12-minute quarters with a short intermission
between the first and second, third and fourth, with a longer intermission
between the second and third.

Hi Matheus,
Maybe if I ever saw how they did a one on one basketball game for the ps2,
I would have an idea as to how to do it. I really don't have any ideas as
to how it would go. Maybe part of it is that I have never been into
basketball, hockey or soccer.
