Re: [Audyssey] Online games

2014-08-10 Thread dark

Hi Devin.

Solara is a good online game, for mobile devices, but won't take your time
as long as alteraeon.

I'd personally recommend King of Dragon pass. It's offline rather than
online, but takes literally hours! to finish and even longer to get the
stratogy, it also has many completion awards. The only down side is that it
does cost around 6 dollars, but for the hours you'll play it it's well worth
it.

All the best,

Dark.

Hi all. I have used mush z for alter aeon for years now. I write this not
to bash it, but I really don't think, for blind users, it is good for
mobile platforms. I'll be going back to school soon, and will need a good
game to play after classes. I go to a school for the blind, and will be
staying there for months, going home once a month for one whole day. I'll
only have my ipod as my personal devise, so I need a good game that isn't
a dull one like lords and knights. One that is online, and is less than or
equal to one dollar, which is what I have in itunes.

Re: [Audyssey] Online games.

2014-02-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,

Well, in all honesty I would find that rather unlikely. While a BopIt
game for Symbian phones doesn't sound like much its still inconvenient
for the majority of accessible game developers for one of two reasons.

First, the number of people who have Symbian phones these days are
very small. If a game developer were to develop a game he or she would
have difficulty finding one for testing/development as most carriers
like ATT and so on are now using Android or iPhone. So obtaining the
hardware would be difficult, and even if they did the number of end
users would not make it worth the effort.

Second, it would take a lot of time and research with very little
value to the developer. Meaning it would take time and effort studying
which language would be best for the platform, various APIs, and after
he or she got done there would be no market for the games. He or she
would have just thrown his or her time away on an out dated technology
with no future in it.

Cheers!

2014-02-15 Thread shaun everiss
Well since nokia stopped making devices I am not sure that it is a
good idea to look for a now obselete product.

I am on my 3rd cheap, crappy and probably overloading chinese import battery.
Those never last as long but the device does what I want.
however though it lasts for 3-4 days one call or 2 and the phone is
basically a pancake.
For what I use it for, the occational 5 minutes call, and a few sms
messages its ok, but I wouldn't concidder it as a suitable gaming
device anymore though I may have at one stage.
In fact now nokia no longer uses symbian its on the really crappy
device pile of crappy devices.

For the low usage I use on it and I say again low, its fine for what it is.
I really don't need anything over crap level for a phone but if I
ever did need something I'd actually get a real phone.

But I doubt I will actually get there for a while.
Though crap the phone does what it does extremely well and has almost
never fallen over though when it does its dead till I pull the power pack.
To be honest and this is only my opinion not to be rood, but gamers
should really focus on the stuff we have.

I phone, android and the like.
Pc, windows, to.
If you are adventurous then linux and mac are the platforms that seem
to have not many games, emulators, not just dosbox but actual
emulators in general.
I think there should be also a focus on mainstream games or at least
making games that both blind and sighted can play.

Hi linsay.

www.whitestick.co.uk is the place to look since they have a very good
selection on their games to play online page.

From that list I'd personally recommend core exiles, puppet nightmares,
Kingdom of loathing, metroplexity and possible sryth or space odyssey too,
but there are several interesting games to try on there, aline adoption
agency, torn city, monster breeder etc.

Re: [Audyssey] Online games.

2013-01-30 Thread dark

Hello Lindsay.

I can certainly recommend some games, however also remember you can go to
www.audiogames.net and use the search archive function. If you search for
rpg games or muds you will find a good few online games, also remember the
games to play online page over at www.whitestick.co.uk.

there are several I'd personally recommend. Firstly with Muds there is
alteraeon which you know about.

There are then several brouser games. Firstly, core exiles over at
http://www.core-exiles.com/ this is a massive online space adventure rpg
game, with elements off stratogy and economics and some great background,
plus a very friendly community.

then, one game I am recently becoming quite the fan of is the online pokemon
like game puppet nightmares, see
http://www.puppetnightmares.com/index.php?sh=23512

(and yes, this is my referal link).

this is a very complex battle game in which you collect, breed and train
various spiritually controlled creatures called soul puppets. It's a complex
affair in it's battle and mechanics, but quite okay once you get the knack
(see the puppet nightmares entry on audigoames.net for details). it also has
a great and quite surreal story and over all pretty freaky atmosphere, very
nightmare like and weerd.

then, there is metroplexities, at http://www.metroplexity.com/ this is a
game similar to the popular kingdom of loathing or twilight heroes, though
for me metroplexities is superior sinse it has a far more complex battle
system that actually resembles a collectable card game, plus with it's theme
of a cyberpunk like world with big coorporations, crime and drugs that make
people see real illusions it's got a rather more serious atmosphere and
story than similar games which grabbed my interest far more.

then there is warriors 2 at http://www.warriors2.com/ this is is a game with
a very disticnt item creation system and a lot to explore. Battles aren't as
interesting, but on the plus side everything you find is unique, including
various companions who travel along side you and do everything from help you
in battle, to find healing herbs, or even cook for you! My only personal
problem with the game is that in game dungeons can be a bit daunting since
they are huge, and other than your coordinates you don't really get help
knowing what is in them, but that shouldn't put you off trying.

Then there is age of fable
http://www.apolitical.info/webgame/index.php?mode=0 I'm not sure whether
you'd call this a brouser online rpg game or a amebook, but either way it's
great fun. Simply choose or roll up a character, read the story and respond.
With colourfull writing, lots to do and explore, and even stats systems to
improve this is the recipe for a lot of fun.

There are of course many more online games that I have played, most of which
can be found on audiogames.net or whitestick, but the above are the ones
that have most recently grabbed my attention.

then, of course I'm a huge fan of gamebooks and the many online sites that
provide them, including http://www.arborell.com/ and
http://www.ffproject.com/ http://www.projectaon.org/new.htm and
http://www.chooseyourstory.com/

these are closer to interactive stories than gamebooks, but don't have the
parza interface of standard if, and many have rpg like mechanics. I'm a huge
fan.

hth.

all the best,

Dark.

[Audyssey] Online games

2010-05-23 Thread Mária Orovčíková
Hi friends,
does anyone know about the games I could play online with other users?
The only game which I play online and which I like so much is monopoly made by
rs games. I would like to try some other online games, so if you know about
games which are worth playing please let me know.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards

Re: [Audyssey] Online games

2010-05-23 Thread The Kolesar Brothers
Well, my brother and I have been playing a online truck driving game since
around December of 08.
For we jaws users you'll need to have your navigation keys turned on to be
able to play it.
Aboutt the only thing that isn't blind friendly is the GPS system.
But if you'd like to give the game a test drive? The web page is at
www.trukz.com
If you do decide to sign up? Check out the Big Mountain Express Company.
If you have enough vision to see the computer monitor? You'll have all kinds
of slashing lights and the truck's dashboard flashing at you.
Also, if you decide to drive this game.
There's roughly a handful of blind drivers that are all willing to lend a
hand for help.
Also, most of the players are related to actual truck drivers, are drivers
themselves, or are retired drivers. But are still willing to help out where
needed. It is a friendly and competative little group.
Make sure you keep a eye on the bulletins, the experation date on your
goodies for your truck, your truck and everything else. SMILES.
If you need some help? Let us know and we'll do our best to try and help you
out.

Actually sean, i was being a trifle sarcastic.

In terms of who people are, the web msters of the site are Richard vantol

That's it, if anyone was wondering.

Re: [Audyssey] Online games

2010-04-05 Thread shaun everiss
there are games like core exiles but they are not exactly fast paced.
I know there are flash games which are ok but I can't remember
check www.audiogames.net they seem to be the main database for just about
everything in the industry.
even experimental stuff.
Even if you don't submit anything if you are a dev the stuff is eventually
assimilated into the collective.
the people do a good job of keeping this updated.
Its hard to remember when we did not have this free database but in 1999- early
2000 I think we didn't have it.

Hi Linzy.

the whitestick.co.uk site has one on
http://www.whitestick.co.uk/ongames.htmll you can also try searching the
audiogames.net database under online - not all the accessible online
games I've heard about have pages there yet, but they will soon.

Hth.

Hi all,
I have two questions about online gaming:
1. I'd please like to know where I can find more accessible online
games,
however, not RPG fantasy types, more realistic simulations of real life
managemaet, like hattrick and battrick, which are sports, are their
other
games where you manage and build up things, and where you don't need to
be
at your computer at a given time to play? For example, are their
business
management online games, or empire management games (but not fantasy),
or
some more cool sports management ones? 2. This is for my friend, who I
was
talking to today. I know their's been much discussion on the list about
fantasy and harry potter games, but since I'm not into that stuff I
didn't
read the emails. Someone had a link to an accessible online harry potter
game, where is it?
Thanks
Ari
