Re: [Audyssey] virus on the site

2009-07-31 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Shaun,
I don't know how the web site got infected, but the issue is fixed now.
As far as the mailing list itself goes it is perfectly safe. The list
blocks most attachments which should stop generally any virus or trojan
horse that tries to get through.
As far as subscription goes you can subscribe and unsubscribe by e-mail.
Subscribing via the web site or e-mail is purely optional. So again not
a big problem.

HTH

[Audyssey] virus on the site

2009-07-30 Thread shaun everiss
Hi.
does any one have any idea how the virus got on the site?
I suppose we will have to have security more or something.
I had a strange program starting up today and some files in my root I did not
recognise removed all of these and ran spybot which finds nothing and spybot
detects trogens, so does avg but spybot takes a shorter time I think it detects
about 60 or so maybe like 566000 different bits of bad stuff.
My system seems ok for now.
Its been rough.
on that note, I am wandering if there really needs to be security or something
for the site.
Ie list archives, and issues.
of the mag I wander if all can be mirrored.
Also is it possible to have an email subscription to the list like say
yahoogroups to avoid if say someone wanted to sub to the newsletter.
Not sure what but it seems that everything is rough.
The audyssey..org does not effect me I hit it once yesterday to confirm
anything was wrong but I usually don't visit, in fact never visit unless
ofcause I need to get an archive of something and almost never.
I have posted this on a blog I have and another, is there a way for those that
wish to subscribe to contact someone to do it.
On that note is the email list itself safe and other things?
will this mean the site will have to be shut down for a time and will we lose
anything?
I have usually avoided stuff where I can using my head mostly I get caught a
couple times but spybot or avg spybot mostly is able to get rid of anything so
far.
please keep us up to date on this.
hmmm the road just aint that safe these days.
