Yeah, I would give the change log a bit of a read, as a lot of stuff has not 
been put into the readme file.
You'll be surprised at what you can Learn by reading the change log.
If you do want to learn more on swamp, you could also contact me if I am on.
I tend to go by the name keba At the moment.

To answer the actual question, no, I have yet to come across this problem with 
changing the volume settings.

g raises the other players footsteps while shft lowers them currently
been suspended at mo in multi player mode h and shift controls your
chars footsteps and j and shift j controls the footsteps of zombies. i
tend to have my chars footsteps set at 120 while i have the zombies
set at 140 to enable better tracking and targeting. if you need any
help in game just shout i go by the name of pitbull in the game. hth

It's more a bug that the ammo doesn't show up right away. Switch 
out of the gun you unloaded and back in and you'll be set.

and you unload it it dissapears.
if you then get another weapon you can reload the old clip to

Default is the mouse sensitivity setting that was used in version 1.1b.

 Which mouse sensitivity setting will put the turn speed
 back the way it was in 1.1b? Is that default?
