Most of the ones I have owned and seen usually have a mixture of big and small buttons. Well I had a gamepad and a wingman ffb logitech. I never was able to calibrate it right and as it is I now have no space to use it. sod just kept spinning me in a circle and I gave up. I've probably had a bad experience though. Though I learned from a friend that tried ffb that the prosition sticks are better because ffbs have issues centering. I've never bothered to find out how true that is. In any case Unless I can have a pad on my desk perminantly which I probably won't for a while thats not going to be an issue. I'd call those shoulder buttons as opposed to triggers really on the PS3 pads. Of course if it's a case of a button is a button then it makes little difference, but sometimes, I find that I want a proper trigger... For example, the Philips 2909 I mainly use on my laptop has seven programable buttons on top plus the start and menu button which are fairly small. You can feel them but their not particularly large. On the front of the unit though are four big buttons that are programable, but are used for fire controls and things like that. Hi Lori, Though it pains me to praise Microsoft, the Xbox 360 pads are the best designs I've seen in quite a few years. Enough buttons to cover almost any eventuality, well pronounced spaces between them considering how many there are, and all of the buttons triggers joysticks and d-pad are snappy and responsive. Unless you're really into the idea of some extra tweaking though, I'd save yourself a few quid and a headache by going with the wired USB version. Wireless pads are cool yes, but in this particular case the drivers that ship with them are naff. Assuming Pipe 2 has support for pads you should be well away. If not, there is a neat little utility called JoyToKey that you can google for which will allow you to map keyboard keys to specific buttons on your gamepad and set the repeat rate. I've used it to play games like GMA Tank Commander that don't have pad support, takes a bit of fiddling on initial design but once it's done it's done. So there's one option for you. Pop into almost any game shop and they'll have one out on display for you to hold, should set you back somewhere around 15 maybe 20 quid at the worst. No doubt other people will chime in on this though, people's choice of pads are quite subjective.
