Re: [Audyssey] Aplication Deployment Question

2010-01-05 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Hayden,

Just FYI I was also happy when I came up with the WinKit.zip file thing because
that full Microsoft install adds about a meg of support files to the setup
(WinKit.zip) file. Of course that is now necessary, once, because Vista and
Windows 7 no longer ship with those files. But my WinKit.zip slash Kitchensinc
game menu system sure has saved allot of up load, web site storage and down
load meggage over the years.

Re: [Audyssey] Aplication Deployment Question

2010-01-05 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Hayden,

In Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 in the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 tools menu,
you then want the package deployment wizard. I'm sure that it would be called
the same if you have only Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. The only thing is, I did
not find the deployment wizard to be very screen reader friendly. That was why
I was so happy when I figured out that I would do it once, creating the
WinKit.zip setup file which is a full Microsoft install that creates the
Kitchensinc folder etc. Then all of the rest of my games I would just make
self extracting WinZip files that would unzip to the Kitchensinc folder and be
added to the game menu program I added to the WinKit.zip setup.

I tried the Inno install creator and just never figured out how to make it work
for me. To bad I also did not get my WinKit.zip to automatically put a
Kitchensinc short cut icon on the desk top.

Hi,
Inno Setup is definitely the way to go. It's very easy to use (and
free), and you can use Pascal for any additional scripting your setup
may need. For a guess the number game, Inno's basic features should do
it.

Hi all,

This one's for Jim and anyone else who might use VB6. I recently started
looking at programming in VB6, and have looked at packaging and deploying
applications. I have, for a test, attemted to deploy the number guess
program on Jim's site. I get it pachaged, but I can't figure out how to
deploy the thing. How do you do that?

Best Regards,
