An LP mud means that it has been designed using the LP code base. Such
muds
tend to be much less about number crunching and more about going on
quests.

In addition, because LP is not one of the standard first code bases, you
won't find any stock areas such as the Dwarven Kingdom, Midgaard, and New
Thalos. Popular examples of LP muds include Discworld, Three Kingdoms, and
Batmud.

2009-07-12 Thread Allan Thompson

Hi Helena,
I went to look for the answer to this question this morning and got this
from wikipedia. I think the link is right. In a nutshell, the LP mud seems
to be named after the person who created it, but as for how it compares to
any other mud like alter eon I am not too sure. Haven't played in a mud for
over four years so I am kind of clueless at the moment, grin.

Hi,

I just started playing on Lost Wishes Mud a week ago and I really like
so far.

It's a LP mud, wich are my favourites. It has over 100 quests, the
equipment saves when you log out and it has a great tutorial for
starting players.

The room discriptions are very good and discriptive. There are no
wilderness maps or such things and it has a special toggle for screen
readers which disables the ascii grafics in the score display, for
example.

There are 13 guilds to choose from when reaching level 10, which I
didn't reach yet, however.

I really like this mud. I'ts great for exploring, reading good room
discriptions and questing. The playerbase is quite small, there are
around 30 players online in high time, but about 15 players are online
at all times.

I would recommend this muds for newbies and for veterans alike,
especially for explorers and questers. This mud is defenately not a hack
and slash thing.

I think it's worth a look for everyone who likes mudding or wants to
start doing so.

Desmodus was too weird and unrealistic for my tastes, you had to learn
skills to even use a sword, couldn't even swing it wildly or anything, which
doesn't make sense. I don't really like how it just drops you smack in the
middle of a giant city with no real direction or newbie help either. It
could have potential but in my opinion at least there's a few things they
need to work on first.

Hi,

I just started playing on Lost Wishes Mud a week ago and I really like so
far.

It's a LP mud, wich are my favourites. It has over 100 quests, the
equipment saves when you log out and it has a great tutorial for starting
players.

The room discriptions are very good and discriptive. There are no
wilderness maps or such things and it has a special toggle for screen
readers which disables the ascii grafics in the score display, for
example.

There are 13 guilds to choose from when reaching level 10, which I didn't
reach yet, however.

I really like this mud. I'ts great for exploring, reading good room
discriptions and questing. The playerbase is quite small, there are around
30 players online in high time, but about 15 players are online at all
times.

I would recommend this muds for newbies and for veterans alike, especially
for explorers and questers. This mud is defenately not a hack and slash
thing.

I think it's worth a look for everyone who likes mudding or wants to start
doing so.
