Re: [Audyssey] Moderator Let's Get Back on Topic

2011-12-18 Thread Valiant8086

Hi.
Whoops, I read a whole bunch of messages waiting to see if a moderator
had closed the topic before I commented, but it looks like either I
missed it or you closed it while I was writing my whopper. Apologies for
that.

Hi everyone,

I know being taken seriously is a major concern for many of us, but I
think we've pretty much talked the topic into the ground at this
point. So with that said let's begin winding the thread down and get
things back on topic here. There seems to be plenty of other subjects
we could discuss that would be more constructive.

Cheers!

2011-12-18 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Valiant,

Well, just as long as you know the topic is closed now we are cool. I
would have closed the topic much sooner, but I took the day off to
watch movies with my family, go Christmas shopping, etc and didn't get
back in until late. By the time I read my e-mail the topic had
degenerated from a civil conversation to finger pointing and was
quickly getting out of hand. So, yes, the topic is definitely
officially closed for all who is concerned.

Cheers!

2011-12-13 Thread shaun everiss

wandered when this was going to come up, but it was good to air the topic.
As a closing to this I must congradulate the community at large for
having a good debate without another war starting.
Its not allways happened but more often than not, we have started
fighting and that has never gone well.
Having to respond to things coming thick and fast was a chalenge,
email became its own game for a well so thanks all for a good chat.

Hello everyone,

Ok, it is time to get the list back on topic. I initially allowed the
technology debate to continue as long as I have as I felt it would be
helpful or instructive for gamers to here all sides of the issue.
Especially, since upgrading from XP to Windows 7 and Windows 8 may
have an effect on the future of accessible gaming. However, after
having just read a bunch of e-mails where the same points of view were
being repeted over and over again in a circular and unending argument
without resolution its just time to agree to disagree and get back to
gaming.

Bottom line, weather you agree or disagree with where Microsoft is
going with their Windows OS here isn't the proper place to debate the
point. If you really want to be heard, to have a voice in what
Microsoft does, then you have to pay to become a MSDN subscriber, sign
up for Microsoft's Windows beta testing program, and speak directly to
the Microsoft developers who are in a position to make changes in the
next Windows OS. If you simply don't care to do that or have no desire
to upgrade then don't. We do not need to have a long winded discussion
on the issue, because right or wrong, good or bad, for better or
worse, we have no control over the companies that produce our
computers, write the software, and set market trends. Complaining
about it serves no purpose that I can see. So let's give it a rest,
and get back on topic.

Agreed, Thomas... let's get back to gaming... whatever definition
that might have for people. I don't remember seeing this many
messages on the list in a day for quite a while. lol.

Hi everyone,

Ok, I think all of us, including me, have gotten too carried away with
the games verses religion topic. Let us please stear things back on
topic as I don't think everyone wants to read another hundred messages
on this topic. However, before I go this is just a word of friendly
advice from both your moderator and as a fellow lister.

While all of us have different spiritual beliefs, different
backgrounds, etc this list isn't the proper forum to really debate
those issues. People have been discussing the nature of God and man,
what is considered to be proper human behavior, etc for centuries and
will continue long after you and I are gone. In the end all we can
really do is leave it up to our personal judgment and do what we
believe to be right in our own personal way. At the same time we
should try and respect others with a different view, and not put them
down for seeing their values, life style, etc differently. That is the
only way we as a community will get along.

Finally, remember that weather you do or do not play a certain type of
game is in the end purely personal choice. If you do not like a
certain product a developer creates you do not have to buy it, play
it, or have anything to do with it. However, at the same time let's
remember that others do enjoy it and we should not make an issue of
their choices and we won't make an issue out of your personal choices
either.

If you really feel there aren't any games made to your liking or
spiritual beliefs there are alternatives. Philip Bennefall has created
a wonderful tool, BGT, that will allow a beginner to learn how to
create and build games without being an ITT professional with years of
programming skill and training behind him/her. I think that this is
the best and most rational solution to the problem available.

Cheers!
