Re: [Audyssey] joystick? game pad?

2008-09-11 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Charles,
I would recommend the Logitec Rumble Pad. I have a Logitec Rumble Pad
with 10 buttons and it is a nice controller, and it only cost me about
$40.00 at Best Buy. Here are the features.

1. 10 programmable buttons.
2. A POV hat for changing player's point of view.
3. Two minijoysticks for handling player movement.
4. Force feedback support.
5. USB 2.0 compatible.
6. A speed throddle.

need them. (grin) I'll probably get swamped with responses, which is cool.
The responses I want, though, should be informative. I don't merely want one
like Get the 86-RB-12. I want, in essence, your experiences with your
suggested device. Why should I get this one as oposed to another? What, if
anything, makes it stand out. It must work with Windows XP, and, preferably,
a USB device or something that will hook to a PC that is not all that new.
Also, if software must be installed, sighted assistance must not be required.
  I use JAWS 9.0. Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] joystick? game pad?

2008-09-09 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Charles,

I have not used a bunch of different joysticks or anything, so I can only tell
you about the two that I do have. So I have a Saitek ST290 Pro. It is just a
standard move left, right, back and fourth or twist it one stick joystick. No
force feedback on it. It is pretty large and has a wrist rest and is
comfortable on the hand. There is a trigger and 5 other buttons as well as a
slider lever. It is U S B. It cost twenty dollars. I installed no software,
just plugged it in and it worked. I very much enjoy playing Puppy1 and Pong
with it. I tried it with Top Speed 2, but preferred the keyboard or steering
wheel.

I also have a Logitech MOMO Racing steering wheel joystick. It does have force
feedback. There is a base with a large plastic screw to hold it in place like
on a keyboard tray. The steering wheel is very nicely covered. It has six
buttons on the wheel itself. Then there are two very convenient fin type
buttons just behind but on the wheel. There is also a gear shift knob to the
right of the wheel. Then there is the gas and brake peddles on a floor base.
Which has a flip down none slip grip. It also is U S B. It cost one hundred
dollars. And again I installed no software, just plugged it in and it worked.
I have very much enjoyed playing Top Speed 2 and Pong with it. A bit strange
playing Puppy1 with it though. Besides the U S B plug it also needs a power
source. You know it has a standard plug that you need to plug into an outlet
slash power supply slash surge protector.

BFN

 Jim

Hi list. I been on here for alittle while and haven't poasted yet, because I
wanted to get the hang of things. anyway, as for joinsticks and gamepads, I
have an XBox controler and it can be set up without sighted help. the only
problem I had was driver hunting. The sight given on the box doesn't work,
instead, you have to do a search on microsoft's site to find it, and this can
be like a needle in a haystack. As for rumble feed back, as far as I know, this
one doesn't have it. I don't recall the exzack moddle number, but it is easy to
set up once you have the drivers. Are the sholder buttons those trigger looking
things on the front of the controler,? Oops, I ment the side that isn't facing
you.

Re: [Audyssey] joystick? game pad?

2008-09-08 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

I've got a logetech controler pad. I don't have the number right off the top
of my head and its a plug and play device. The thing I love about this
device is that the joystick on it is very easy to use, and its similar to an
x box or dreamcast controler. THe shoulder buttons on this thing are
excellent for games where if you press down on it a little bit, it performs
the action slowly, but when you need it you can hold the button right down
and whatever your doing will speed up to its fullest. These two shoulder
buttons are rather springy and they press down really far, similar to a cars
gas petal- that's why I use this gamepad with top speed.

Hope that helps, sorry I'll get the model number for you. Its an older one,
but I like it.
