Yeah the only thing you couldn't do was to own stations or anything like that.
But its safe to say that elite and its sequals are the foundation set but a lot
of gamers will say that there still isn't much that came close to it.

Obviously I've never actually played elite myself, sinse even if the
graphics were visible in the action sequences there would've been far too
much text. So I'm all the more in favour of a similar audio game for that
reason.

I've never played Elite, could you give me a description of the goals, scope
