did you try deleting the dll file that seems to cause a lot of problems?
as I had exactly the same trouble with getting the game to even start before
I deleted it.
in case you haven't got rid of it yet, navigate to your program files
folder, then to your microsoft games folder, then flight simulator9
and look for a file called
oleacc.dll and delete it.
once that is gone fs2004 should start.
don't forget also to edit your cfg file to make the game start in window
mode rather than full screen mode. as I bet because you are having this
startup issue you will probably also get your jaws really screwed when you
start the program as I was till I set it to start in window rather than full
screen mode.
