Re: [Audyssey] unregistration was: Q9 version 1.1 released!

2009-11-25 Thread matheus
hi. a good reason to use a unregister function in this game is that when
creating podcasts, for example, you can demonstrate only the demo
levels, without showing the rest of the game, or being forced to use
cheats to demonstrate only the demo levels. another reason is to clean
completely the game's info, if the user decides to uninstall the game.
that's just my opinion.
some other games also have the possibility to unregister then, like
shades of doom, gma tank commander, sarah, etc tha tuse the gma engine,
because this function is already implemented in the engine.
thanks.

Hello.

The Vip gameszone games have an unregister option, but you can only register
those once on a single computer, therefore if your moving machines over an
extended period, the option exists to unregister the game, and reregister it
later on a new machine.

Sinse though Q9's keys are generated according to your personal name and
therefore not locked to specific hardware, well I don't assume they
are, --- especially sinse I want to install Q9 on my laptop (the only reason
I haven't is I forgot to copy my key over when I last went to visit my
parents), I'm slightly unsure on when unregistration could be useful,
stil, if it's an option which some people would wish to use, - fair
enough.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

I admit, I'd not thought of making the game demo only for demonstration
purposes, though I must confess if I were to do something like that,
I'd probably just redownload a fresh copy of the demo and install it
somewhere else on my system.

Re: [Audyssey] unregistration was: Q9 version 1.1 released!

2009-11-25 Thread Philip Bennefall

Hi Dark,

That would not work, as the registration info is stored in a registry key.
Also, the saved game file and the scores file are both stored in your
application data folder so no matter where you install the game files, it
will always find all the information.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

2009-11-25 Thread dark
Fair enough, it was only a thought on what you could do with
unregistration.

If I ever make a podcast about Q9, I'd probably want to show people at
least the mountain world as well, just to show some extra enemies.
