[gatortalk] Pick 'em results

2017-11-28 Thread John Bowers
A big hooray for Howard Bouchelle III, Mike Clark, and Vincent Santamaria,
who were 10-2 over the long weekend, taking first place in

Pick 'em. Second place went to Brian Hicks, Dustin Davis, Ernesto Zayas,
Jay Hollenkamp, and Justin Wyckoff, all at 9-3. I'm sure

some of the 9-3 scores would have been 10-2 if the Gators had covered the
spread. Maybe Coach Mullen can get the Gators to cover

a few spreads next year!

Time to crown the End-of-the-Year Champion! Bruce Smith finished first at
77-55. Go Bruce! James Bilbrey was second at 74-58, and third

is a tie between Jack Yant and Jim Mesojedec at 73-59.

We may have an SEC-teams-only Bowl Pick 'Em. Or we may not. But probably
we will. So stay tuned. Thanks for playing!

Re: [gatortalk] Re: [gatornews] [SUN]: Top 100 WR Jacob Copeland de-commits from Gators 2018 class

2017-11-28 Thread Hhsgator
I did feel better about him watching his press conference. If we weren’t going
to get Frost, he probably is the best choice available. I notice no one has
mentioned that we should have gone after Jimbo Fisher, who apparently looks
very attractive to Texas A

Also a 2-18 record against top 25 teams. Here’s my concern, and articulated by
someone in another forum. I understand it was a safe hire, but I do not
understand the $70m for eight years that’s being reported. We’re not going to
be able to fire him. But the main thing is this:

Stricklin promised us he would put the fun back in Gator football, and hired a
coach that will plow it up the middle 50% of the time. Our passing game will
remain in the stone age. We can't afford to fire him. It doesn't make you a

According to the Orlando Sentinel Mullen has 3 nine win seasons at MSU. In
their history they had 2 nine win seasons before Mullen.

MSU has the second lowest sports budget in the SEC, to Vanderbilt.

Mullen considered them to be a “developmental team”, meaning they had to bring
in “potential” talent and make them better players.

They have been to 8 bowl games in a row under Dan Mullen. No one has ever
accomplished this at MSU.

Mullen’s offense at Florida was #6 in the country the year he was hired at MSU,
#1 in the SEC.

There are a lot of reasons to hire Mullen at Florida if we just look at the
stats.

Darlene. I saw where you may have gotten the statistic on his record against

It doesn't make you a
bad fan if you have a little common sense and see where this is headed.

There are a lot of reasons to hire Mullen at Florida if we just look at the
stats.

Yes, a number of recruits were going to leave the class regardless. But I
disagree. Dan Mullen is not a good coach. IMO we will never be more than
mediocre under him (8 occasionally 9 win seasons) and will be looking for a new
coach in 4-5 years. While he has had a few good seasons, he has a losing SEC
record and I don't think he has ever coached in the SEC Championship Game as a
head coach. This is a horrible choice.

de-commits from Gators 2018 class

There are a lot of reasons to hire Mullen at Florida if we just look at the

It could be worse. We could still have McElwain. Or, we could have Kelly,

Florida has never in its existence hired a new coach before the end of the
season. We’ll get a coach. And,

Darlene. I saw where you may have gotten the statistic on his record against
top-25 teams. It would appear that it is not accurate. Last year at the time
of the article, he was 4-25 and he added another one this year.
. I would add that the top 25 teams he played every year included Alabama,
Auburn, and LSU. It would be rare to be favored in those games.

It doesn't make you a
bad fan if you have a little common sense and see where this is headed.
