I got down to Florida late Friday to help with the cleanup. While my neighbors
and I were sparred with only minimal damage, I know there are many not as
fortunate. As I shop for groceries and travel around, I see many signs of the
trauma in the landscape and in the eyes of the people. I was surprised to see
very empty shelves at the store still. Even fresh bread is largely
unavailable. There still gas lines but most stations seem to have power.

I know that there were some that felt the game should have not been played
yesterday but I believe it was important to interject a little normalcy into
our lives. The church we attend here in Florida decided to meet this morning,
not knowing if there would be power (thankfully, it was restored). The pastor
wisely let the congregation tell their stories rather than have a traditional
service. I realized how important was a little normalcy in our lives.

So much for a few thoughts from this thankful old man.

Jerry
