hi all sangama's email on the police brutality and the thrashing of an eunuch in banaglore does not come as a surprise to me
the mumbai police for that matter are no different over years, whenever i have met eunuchs , they have told me how the mumbai police have often beaten them mercilessly or for that matter striped them and yes even demanded sex as a right to let them go back to their misrebale homes occasionally, india today or outlook magazines do these jazzy articles on eunuchs , some of whom have gone on to become politicians and accumulate wealth but a vast majority of them live a hand-to-mouth existence they are objects of ridicule and i have seen perfectly idiotic guys become lions and brazenly ridiculing eunuchs when they happen to travel in males' compartment in local mumbai trains often, mumbai police do not allow them to travel in the ladies compartment and when they enuchs do travel in ladies' compartment, they are locked up and then the torture begins a vast majority of them have medical problems and recently hunmsafar group have found an alarming number of hiv positive cases when some of them were tested a group of gays believe that we should have nothing to do with them and that they why should be bother about them? all i can say, is that remember , that they too like us ,have faced nothing but contempt from the society. they too are a minority may be more out in open because they don't have an option. they are humans like us. a majority of us come off from well-educated and well-off backgrounds . the reverse is true of the eunuchs in India try to support them in your little ways for a change, if nothing else, treat them as humans and respect them as you would any other human being and yes, if you see press stories about them, post them to the group. make people aware. regards moderator ------------------------ Yahoo!
