I don't understand this should be easy
We should just be a little queasy
And not just this feeling of uneasy
I go on a date
To find a mate
So why do I feel such distaste
Our start was on a hilt
>From the moment we met up tension was built
That's normal I guess, but why is there guilt
We're at the restaurant
We try not to flaunt
For that is what we were taught
They are sitting side by side
But we, don't culture we abide
And the romance has left and died
I want to be able
To take his hand across the table
But that feels like some epic fable
I want to do that lover's gaze
Seen in movies in happier days
But he seems to be more in a daze
He's afraid to show his beautiful eyes
He doesn't even try
Sigh…I guess neither do I
Maybe we're expecting those unapproving glares
Those eyes that say we shouldn't dare
Dear God, this is so unfair
I yearn for a night of fun to fill
To flirt and court for trill
But all we get is the bill
It can be so depressing
To see society is still repressing
And here we are, still stressing
It's not in our face in fact
They found a more subliminal tact
And we're following in how we act
Yet we don't see that we are getting jacked
I have to stop trying to hide
Put fears to side
And not be denied
Follow my heart in stride
