Ruby Sain, head sociology dept, JU: With changing human values now
homosexual relationship is being accepted in the society, still we
are unable to talk about it openly.

Thus due to the Indian psyche, celebs are unable to support the
sexual minority groups. While in the West celebs think of it in
terms of violation of rights.

Psychiatrist Dr JR Ram: Section 377 of the IPC should be repealed,
as it is still a criminal offence to claim to be a gay or lesbian.

I have seen many cases where homosexuals had to marry and pretend to
be heterosexual, as they cannot express themselves.

Gays or lesbians are perfectly all right as human beings. They need
not be
treated as mental patients as it's not a disease. But due to society
pressure they remain in darkness.

Sociologist Samit Kar: Homosexuality is no more a hush hush affair
in the West, but here we are yet to accept that boldly. Moreover, we
are pretending to be modern....

Pawan Dhall, Kolkata director of Saathii (Solidarity and action
against the HIV infection in India): More and more celebs are coming
forward to support the sexually minorities.

Even fashion designer Wendell Rodricks did not bother to declare
openly about his "wedding" with Jerome Marel. We are organising a TV
show where we will have Sanjay Suri, Lillette Dubey and Purab Kohli
along with Onir of My Brother Nikhil fame.

Even city celebs Rupa Ganguly, Kaushik Sen and artist Paritosh Sen
will participate in the talk shows.
