A college of mine recently struggled compiling some Fortran files and it turned out that they used (old) Mac line breaks, i.e. \r instead of Unix \n or Windows \r\n. (I have not checked how difficult it is to support this.)
Analogously, one could think of supporting \r line breaks in libgfortran, but I think this will open Pandora's box. (Maybe the same is also true for the Front end.) -- Summary: Support Fortran files with \r line breaks Product: gcc Version: 4.4.0 Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P3 Component: fortran AssignedTo: unassigned at gcc dot gnu dot org ReportedBy: burnus at gcc dot gnu dot org http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=36378
