Sorry about the huge delay on getting back with this, I finally got round
to doing a test:
692 images totalling ~2.9GB, Athlon 2600XP, 512MB
Select all images, press delete, accept deletion and time to last file
deleted.
Ubuntu 9.04 Geeqie 1.0alpha3 48 seconds

The attached (incremental) patch adds search support for Ratings. You
can search for images with ratings less than, equal to, or greater than
a specific value; images with ratings in a specified range, or images
without ratings.
