We're likely to want to sync with a stable, well tested, m5 state a few times a year. Having an m5 stability point every 6 months is less frequent than I'd prefer. Forcing yourselves to do it every month, leaving only 50% of the time available for general commits, is probably more than we (HAsim) need from the repository. If less frequent intervals works for others then requiring half a month of stabilization every other month would reduce the lock-out to only 25% of the time.
