Hi Gabe,

You can use 9p and VirtiIO for this. There is a 9p implementation in
gem5 that uses diod (you'll have to install the diod package).

There is an old, and probably broken, description on the Wiki:

The modern Arm platforms come with two unused VirtIO MMIO devices that
you could use for this if you want to avoid PCI for some reason.

I don't have any recollection that this is supported (though it would be
very cool). Then again, I'm often finding gem5 features that I didn't know
