1. How would that be complicated? If people ID as a woman (or NB, or other identities included in WiR) then they'll be included, and if they don't they won't. It's almost like the entire point of this site is that it's relatively easy to edit...
2. As for detransitioning being a major concern of yours: "Surgical regret is actually very uncommon. Virtually every modern study puts it below 4 percent, and most estimate it to be between 1 and 2 percent (Cohen-Kettenis & Pfafflin 2003, Kuiper & Cohen-Kettenis 1998, Pfafflin & Junge 1998, Smith 2005, Dhejne 2014). In some other recent longitudinal studies, none of the subjects expressed regret over medically transitioning (Krege et al. 2001, De Cuypere et al. 2006). These findings make sense given the consistent findings that access to medical care improves quality of life along many axes, including sexual functioning, self-esteem, body image, socioeconomic adjustment, family life, relationships, psychological status and general life satisfaction. This is supported by the numerous studies (Murad 2010, De Cuypere 2006, Kuiper 1988, Gorton 2011, Clements-Nolle 2006) that also consistently show that access to GCS reduces suicidality by a factor of three to six (between 67 percent and 84 percent)." These myths contribute to attitudes and policies that keep trans people from healthcare and other means of bodily autonomy. Do you believe that politicians overstep and condescend when they say that pregnant people can't be trusted to make the decision to get an abortion? This is the exact same patronization. -----Original Message----- From: Gendergap [mailto:gendergap-boun...@lists.wikimedia.org] On Behalf Of Carol Moore dc Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2017 3:13 PM To: Addressing gender equity and exploring ways to increase the participation of women within Wikimedia projects. <gendergap@lists.wikimedia.org> Subject: Re: [Gendergap] In memory of User:Danveg On 1/9/2017 2:32 PM, Pax Ahimsa Gethen wrote: > Thanks! (Especially lesbians who decide that they've been pressured by sex stereotypes and society to reject their butch nature and want it back.) A topic that probably will be covered more in the future than here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transsexual#Regrets_and_detransitions One bio where this sort of thing might be relevant is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Arquette where Alexis' well known sister and brother (as well as boyfriend) stated to RS that Arquette was beginning to reject the ideology and even to "detransition." So if someone decided to take on that, obviously it would be an interesting discussion of RS, rumor, accuracy of sources, etc. Of course, detransitioning will be more in the younger generation of notable personalities. Older generations often had decades to think about it before they took concrete transitioning steps. (Though lots of RS keep waiting for Caitlyn Jenner to do it so they can make money covering that side of the story.) Today a lot of sexually confused young people have been led into it by advocacy groups, school counselors, doctors - and even parents who would prefer their child be of the opposite sex (sometimes because they are terrified otherwise the child will be gay!) Then as they go into their late teens and early 20s they are becoming more independent and able to judge how much others influenced them. Some already are considering lawsuits against schools and advocacy groups they feel pushed them into a decision they now regret. So this is a whole new area with lots of personal accounts and mainstream RS sources, though I'm sure it may be a while before anyone safely could expand that section of the article, create a new article, or write much about detransitioning celebrities. _______________________________________________ Gendergap mailing list Gendergap@lists.wikimedia.org To manage your subscription preferences, including unsubscribing, please visit: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/gendergap _______________________________________________ Gendergap mailing list Gendergap@lists.wikimedia.org To manage your subscription preferences, including unsubscribing, please visit: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/gendergap
