Here's my take on the issues you raised; (1) *.j refers to java source files (2) On some systems, jconsole is instead named /usr/bin/ijconsole (3) J's default script error behavior is somewhat analogous to dropping into a debugger on error. This is probably about right for casual scripts. But,
