Re: [Jgeneral] An invitation to participate in developing the J wiki
Thanks. I will add a link to the word "wiki", but note that there are several links to the wiki in the side panel of that page. [Jgeneral] An invitation to participate in developing the J wiki
Calling all J'ers Over the last couple of months, a group have been working together on a plan to revamp the J wiki. In the next two months, we will start to roll out some of the changes that we plan to implement. If you have not already been involved, this is your chance. These developments should be thought of as an evolution rather than a rigid implementation and your input is vital as the changes progress. The first area of that should attract your attention we have called the J playground. The J playground can be found at https://jsoftware.github.io/j-playground/bin/html/emj.html At this point it is primarily a way to demonstrate the J language to newcomers using only the browser, but it may develop into a more comprehensive tool if interest warrants it. To provide feedback on the J playground the most effective way is to raise an issue at the GitHub site. https://github.com/jsoftware/j-playground/issues The second area of interest is to increase the ease of navigating the wiki. As part of this initiative landing pages have been developed which can be seen at https://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/Wiki/prototype_landing_page. We are looking for suggestions of improvement based on the way that you use the wiki currently. What areas should be highlighted and which ones should have their visibility reduced. The format and content of these pages will change based on the comments that we receive over the next two months. The easiest way to provide feedback on the wiki pages is to sign up as a wiki user and make the comments on the discussion pages that accompany each page. If you are not already signed up as a wiki user you can follow the directions found here: https://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/About and you can email us here: wiki {at} jsoftware {dot} com The other option to provide feedback is through the J general forum. The process of making improvements to the wiki is a task that will benefit from the involvement of the whole J community. As my football coach used to say, you will only get out what you are willing to put in. If we put the work in, we have the opportunity to create something that is really special and will expose J to a much larger audience than it has had previously. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together. Cheers, bob ps. please respond on the general forum, if you are posting a reply. -- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
