Those projects do not belong to apache-echarts.
They are some extensions based on apache-echarts or examples or some tools
help to make
data visualization using to echarts,
just like the other thousands of repos related to echarts if searching
"echarts" on GitHub.

The official website project is
https://github.com/apache/incubator-echarts-website.git
And we need do more discussion about it in dev@echarts.

Thanks

Yes, essentially a similar discussion is in progress on dev@echarts.

We’ll need to review stuff in ecomfe and the initial SGA to know what more may
be needed. No need to discuss more here on general@ at this time..

Hi,

Sort of as it has it’s repo here and not hosted at the ASF.
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-www

There is also this:
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-doc
Which claims "Official repository of ECharts documentation”, the official
documentation should be at the ASF right?

There’s also this:
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-examples

And many other ECharts repos under (https://github.com/ecomfe) Baidu EFE team.

for instance:
https://github.com/ecomfe/vue-echarts
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-for-weixin
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-liquidfill
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-gl
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-graph-modularity
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-miniBI
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-stat
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-gallery-feedback ("Official Feedback
Repository for ECharts Gallery”)
https://github.com/ecomfe/echarts-boilerplate

etc etc

IMO There are several branding and trademark issues here that the PPMC needs to
deal with.

That seems reasonable to me, along with moving the content (via a grant?) to

Chinese site echarts.baidu.com Was:: [VOTE] Release Apache ECharts 4.2.1 (release candidate 1)

2019-01-30 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi Justin,

You are looking at the Chinese version of this: https://echarts.apache.org

I think that a reasonable solution for the pooling may be to put this website
up on https://echarts.apache.org/zh/ and then
redirect. That would fit Apache Branding requirements. ECharts has 32,319 Stars
and 9,403 Forks most of which are in China. Performance might be an issue.

Echarts Devs would you please look into moving the Chinese site to ASF
Infrastructure. Once that is done properly then we can consider the best way to
handle echarts.baidu.com domain. Perhaps there are some creative ways to handle
this …

Regards,
Dave

Hi,

-1 (binding) die to incorrect headers on D3 files

I checked:
- incubating in name
- signatures and hashes correct
- DISCLAIMER exits
- LICENSE has some issues (see below)
- NOTICE needs year updating. Please fix for next release.
- All files have ASF headers, but some may have them incorrectly
- No unexpected binary files

The D3 files mentioned in LICENSE doesn’t seem to follow ASF 3rd party header
policy [7].

This file in particular looks problematic [1] with an ASF header and a D3 one
further down.
This files [2][3][4][6] have double headers.
This file mentioned din LICENSE doesn’t exist [5]

There is also possible a more serious issue re branding, trademarks and project
independence. Now it possible that this has already been discussed, and there
are plans to remove it, but what is being done about this domain name?
https://echarts.baidu.com. Please add something in your podling report about
this.

Justin

Re: [DISCUSS] Training (incubating) Proposal

2019-01-30 Thread Kenneth Knowles
Hi Lars,

I would like to be a part of this too, according to your & the others' best
judgment. I'm PMC at Beam & incubator. I'm not a professional teacher or
trainer, but I have been a part of preparing and delivering a number of
trainings and talks (also the usual teaching, tutoring, talking in grad
school FWIW) and I love it. One of my favorite things about Beam that keeps
me working on it is that it is a natural integration point of lots of
different Apache projects both as data processing engines (Spark, Flink,
Apex, Samza, Tez, Storm, incubating Nemo, ex-incubating Gearpump, ...) used
by Beam users and also data stores (Cassandra, HBase, Hadoop, Tika, Hive,
...) they want to read/write from. So our trainings are already basically
cross-project Apache-focused material and it would be great
cross-pollination. We often have to help users configure their Spark &
Flink clusters, etc.

Hi Lars,

I'd like to be a part of this. I'm PMC at Apache Ignite. Sometimes I need
to give individual feedback to developers related to both Apache policies
and spirit of developing software in a community way. Why not invest effort
into training and education materials instead?

I gave several talks in Russia related to The Apache Software Foundation and
blog about The Apache Way. I also assist newcomers joining Apache Ignite.
So count on my support, and I definitely would like to became committer at
Training.
