2021-08-05 Thread Lior Schachter
Hi Justin,
You are right, something went wrong with the packaging of the tag I created
(and placed in SVN).
i.e. you can see all the files you mentioned below are correctly in the tag
here:

Re LGPL issue it is in the DISCLAIMER-WIP (in the tag).

Anyhow - can I repackage rc4 or need to create rc5 ?

Please advise, sorry for the confusion.

Hi All,

We would like to vote on RC2 of version 0.0.2. The main purpose of V
0.0.2 is to fix issues found with AWS deployment. In RC2 we are
addressing a licensing issue - a LGPL transitive required dependency -
chardet V 4.0.0 (LGPL V 2.1). We added it to the DISCLAIMER-WIP file.

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Liminal (incubating) 0.0.2rc1-INCUBATING

2021-04-21 Thread Lior Schachter
Hi Ash / Justin,
This is indeed a very delicate issue. From my experience in several M/DD
processes, LGPL license is very tricky and the approach suggested by Ash is
the approach I'm familiar with. Both in Java & Python LGPL is very common
and taking a stricter approach might result in a ripple effect - as LGPL
like GPL is contagious.

As a short term solution we will do as Justin suggested and add the
disclaimer.

Kind regards,
Lior

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Liminal (incubating) 0.0.2rc1-INCUBATING

2021-04-20 Thread Lior Schachter
Hi Justin,
chardet is indeed LGPL (https://pypi.org/project/chardet/).

However, from a quick analysis it seems it is installed as Apache Airflow
project dependency.
See below the dependency analysis of this package.

(apache-liminal-002rc1) lior.schachter@liors-mac liminal-getting-started %
pipdeptree --reverse --packages chardet

chardet==4.0.0

  - requests==2.25.1 [requires: chardet>=3.0.2,<5]

- apache-airflow==1.10.12 [requires: requests>=2.20.0,<3]

  - apache-liminal==0.0.2rc1 [requires: apache-airflow==1.10.12]

- docker==4.2.0 [requires: requests>=2.14.2,!=2.18.0]

  - apache-liminal==0.0.2rc1 [requires: docker==4.2.0]

- kubernetes==12.0.1 [requires: requests]

  - apache-liminal==0.0.2rc1 [requires: kubernetes==12.0.1]

- requests-oauthlib==1.3.0 [requires: requests>=2.0.0]

  - kubernetes==12.0.1 [requires: requests-oauthlib]

- apache-liminal==0.0.2rc1 [requires: kubernetes==12.0.1]

Please advise how to proceed,
Lior

Re: [DISCUSS] Project proposal - Apache Rainbow

2020-03-26 Thread Lior Schachter
Hi all,
At this stage the community around rainbow is indeed rather small. However,
I believe the incubator platform is where we can and should build a
substantial community.
Natural Intelligence is committed to invest in this project as it is used
as the foundation of our production pipelines.
Moreover we have been discussing the viability of this project with several
Israeli companies which all showed a great interest in contributing and
joining the community.

We think using the incubator platform will expedite the process of forming
a community as clearly this project is needed and has a great value to many
companies.

Regards,
Lior
