The jira asks a question, an answer was given (do not remove the NU headers without NU's permission), seems to me the next step is for Amber to either do so or explain why they don't. That's exactly the kind of mentor help we need here. Without experience in how issues like these are handled within the ASF it's hard for a podling to tell whether and when it's fine to move forward. For example it may well be less than obvious that it's fine to just resolve the LEGAL issue based on the expressed consensus there instead of waiting for someone from the legal team. Good point, but I withdraw my question; when I wrote it I assumed 18 months ago is when the jira was filed, but now I see it's very recent. Re: AMBER Status: let down by incubator?
One of the Amber committers Pid (pidster) just restarted the discussion on the Amber ML and he volunteered to contact the copyright owner. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon. But it seems that we are good to move forward. I didn't actively follow up so far, but making sure every podling has a responsive champion would be a start, WDYT? I just updated the podlings.xsl so that [2] now displays champions recorded in podlings.xml, with missing ones marked in red. -Bertrand [1] http://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Roles_and_Responsibilities.html#Champion [2] http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/content/podlings.xml - To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@incubator.apache.org

AMBER Status: let down by incubator?
As a shepherd I just reviewed the Amber project. In my opinion this project has been badly let down by the incubation process. Here are my notes from the review: Blocked from graduation by IP signoff from University of Newcastle. Report asks for guidance. Why are mentors not providing this? The projet has, IMHO, been unnecessarily blocked by this since October 2010. Legal JIRA raised on 30/4/2011 at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-134 - looks like it will be resolved soon but mentors should have provided this advice 18 months ago.
