Stephane. News readers are yet another aspect of the internet.
Consider these primary services (to most end users):

1. email
2. web (http)
3. ftp
4. news

Mozilla mail does indeed have a "news reader" but you cannot web browse
to it per se. you'll need to use the mozilla mail/news client. From
there setting up the account with the news server address should be self
explanitory. There are other good news readers as well! My favorite is
PAN but it only runs on linux. Do a google on "newsgroups" or "usenet"
and "newsreader" and you'll probably find something on the subject.

Yes, start using news.betaversion.org (which will move to news.apache.org
once I'm over my friggin deadline), which works with mozilla and filters
messages for you (and expires them after one month so that you won't clog up
your local cache)...

Why not but how ?

The only thing that I see when pointing my browser to
news.betaversion.org is the default welcome page of
Apache ...

Am I supposed to use mozilla mail, or ???

Shall I flame now or wait 10 minutes?

Thanks for the clarification.
Ok, I guess somebody will fix URLs on
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.html
then.

The nightly builds are going. As I said, the output has now been placed
at a new location. In the case of lucene, the output is at

http://cvs.apache.org/builds/jakarta-lucene/nightly/

Try your favourite news reader.

Yep, I should have thought about that ... ;-)
I never use newsgroups, so I don't have the reflex.

Thanx,

Ok, so it's a known problem that somebody is
working on, good :)
Do you have any estimate about how long it
will take to get nightly builds going again?
I am asking because I have an article that
I will soon publish that has references to
some nightly builds, which is how I
discovered that they are not working.

Thanks,
Otis

Broken nightly builds for some projects?

2002-11-15 Thread otisg
Hello,

Appologies if this is not the right list to
use for this, but what is with nightly
builds? It looks like they are not working
for some projects, such as Lucene:

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-lucene/nightly/

There are some other projects with the same
problem, I noticed.

Who do I ask about getting this fixed?

Thank you,
Otis
