Well, in that case there is a discrepency with the devmanual:
 http://devmanual.gentoo.org/general-concepts/use-flags/index.html#noblah-use-flags

Nothing there applies here, since this USE flag has nothing to do with
archs/profiles...

which will force some users to use double negative (-nocdemud, i.e. no
no cdemud) which is rather convulated and should be avoided imho. While
at it, we should try to make the wording on the devmanual clearer, that
it only applies to arches/profiles

or

just don't use noblah USE flags.

This is just a friendly suggestion and the decision is yours to make.
Over and out.

[gentoo-dev] New license: nauty

2010-10-21 Thread Thomas Kahle
Hi,

I want to add the following license to the tree. It is the license of
sci-mathematics/nauty, currently living in the science overlay. Debian
ships it as part of the non-free set:
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/math/nauty

Any objections, comments, questions ?

It's DFSG non-free because it contains a restriction on use (that
military item) and sale.

We're good to have it in MISC-FREE ourselves, as redistribution and
everything else is free.

Erh, no. MISC-FREE is for free and open source software and is more or less
the same as Debians free software guideline. That's the whole purpose of it.

It can go to BINARY-REDISTRIBUTABLE. If you wanna make a list of licenses that
are more or less free with restrictions (however you define that), I'm fine
with that, but I'd like to keep everything that's indirectly in the @FREE-set
to be just that.
