all patching done after some preliminary work in src_prepare() but

use busybox's ping. its poorly maintained if its maintained at all. it

Packages in @system lead with an * while @profile don't. @system
packages have incomplete dependency specifications while @profile have
full. This affects more than just emerge's ability to parallelize, no?
