The virtual is useless without some wrapper script to execute any of the
installed locks, since they have no other uniform command or syntax
Perhaps even eselect module with the wrapper?
But then why is this virtual, instead of just || ( ) list in the package
that will install the wrapper?

Seems like an overkill in anycase

I think you are right. Now that I think about this again it seems to me
that a virtual may not be the solution to the bug referred in the first
e-mail. It would be easier to just append all the optional dependencies
