Re: [gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs: net-mail/mailman and everything that belongs to it
Hi Hanno, We've decided to for the time being shelf Mailman completely. We're just about done (should go live with test clients this afternoon) implementing an alternative that we've built in-house to more accurately accommodate for our use-case in any case. I would recommend proceeding to last-rite Mailman and related packages. Kind Regards, Jaco On 2021/12/25 00:30, Jaco Kroon wrote: > Hi Hanno, > > I've started looking at this mess. And a mess it is. Hi, I'm listed as the maintainer for the following packages where I'm no longer interested: media-libs/libsidplay Library to play C64 sid files. Likely interesting to keep, but to be honest I haven't touched it for a very long time. games-util/dzip This is extremely specific (compression tool for quake recordings), so maybe this should be last-rited? app-crypt/md4sum Commandline tool for the MD4 sum algorithm. Also able to calculate specific hashes used in the ed2k protocol (aka "amule", which is still somewhat active). Re: [gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs: net-mail/mailman and everything that belongs to it
Hi Hanno, I've started looking at this mess. And a mess it is. To the point, where for our somewhat "subset of what mailman provides" requirements I'm contemplating rather cooking an in-house solution (have done similar in the past, but none of these really provide everything we require), but will get back to you. In the current state mailman3 as it is in tree I don't think it's usable in any sensible way (Unless I'm really missing something), so if I go another route I recommend we last-rite it and move on. If I do pick it up on it, then the problem is solved either way. Hi, I'm no longer using mailman personally, thus I'm not interested in maintaining it any more. The mailman packages currently in portage are the mailman 3 split packages, which involve multiple packages providing the functionality, plus a large number of dependencies. I came to the package approximately in the same time like Sergei, when I did few contributions. Anyway, Sergei maintained the package really well and meantime I stopped needing this package, therefore, I was about to drop myself from metadata.xml past few months, but never did that. Probably question to Sergei or some other dev, should I do PR, where I drop myself from erlang maintainers? > I could co-maintain these two, feel free to add me to metadata.xml, > I'll look if there is some improvments that could be done but I haven't had > to scratch an itch on it yet. New erlang version 24.0.4 has been released recently. Package version bump is nice way how to start. Petr

[gentoo-dev] Packages up for grabs
The packages could use some help from a dedicated maintainer. I dropped myself from maintainer list for the following: app-text/fbpdf dev-lang/crystal dev-lang/elixir dev-lang/erlang dev-lang/jwasm dev-libs/capstone dev-util/objconv dev-util/radare2 dev-util/shards dev-lang/gforth dev-util/xxdiff net-fs/smbnetfs Most of them require low/no maintenance. But there should be room for improvements over existing state. -- Sergei
