I feel sorry to the behavior of Canonical. We, people from the Gentoo
community, can show the general public what is the cooperative way to
develop desktop/smartphone hybrid to benefit all.


Note that Canonical, if their project succeeds, it going to ship actual 
devices.  It's not just going to deliver a hack, but rather a real, 
supported, ready to be used device.


No Gentoo project could possibly offer a real alternative to this.

As long as Android is shipped on a large percentage of devices though,
there can be a target audience for people who want to use gentoo-prefix
on those devices. Imagine something like Terminal IDE [1] (which bundles
a prefix of its own) having the power of gentoo-prefix at its disposal.
