The goal wasn't to rename them, but to get rid of them.
We could have email aliases for bugs so that people can sign up for
notifications, but they would NOT be considered maintainers.

+1 for that.

As the previously stated goal was to get rid of herds, I don't
understand why you want to reintroduce them as a value of the
type attribute.

The project is just a few lines anyway: merely a wrapper to the library.

Add support for a new @profile set which allows the profile to pull
in additional packages that do not belong to the @system set.
The motivation to have @profile separate from @system is that
@system packages may have incomplete dependency specifications
(due to long-standing Gentoo policy), and
just a typo: confgured
BTW could this be used to shrink the @system set, and remove stuff like
mandb for example?
cheers,
Francesco R.

Yes, any package with all dependencies specified is eligible for
migration from @system to @profile.

Woah! This is comprehensive! Good work. I don't see anything wrong
with it after reading through it. Go ahead merge, assuming your new
test actually passes for you.

Since commit 55c8c8bc7a781e3f71ce92922eea64ad4cafce3c, emerge --search
can raise an unhandled KeyError if a pkg_desc_index contains a stale
package. Handle it with the same error message used for other aux_get
failures.
Fixes: 55c8c8bc7a78 (Add emerge --search-index option.)
