Hi,
there is it again ...
I've upgraded my system and things stop working. :(((
After the upgrade there is no device coming up if I plug in an USB
device.
I'm on a stable (x86) system and I would need my USB disks just now. Any
way to fix this quick?
Thanks

Hi,
probably I got something wrong. I have put
dev-lang/tcldoc
dev-lang/tk doc
dev-lang/tclx doc
into /etc/portage/package.keywords and then re-emerged tcl, tk and tclx
``equery uses tcl'', ``equery uses tclx'' and ``equery uses tk'' doesn't
show that these packages uses the "doc" USE
e Gentoo boot style is an annoying one for me. .. I'm not saying that
it is a bad one with this stating ;o)
I started on Linux with Slackware. They use BSD style booting. THERE it
was easy to replace this. How on Gentoo?

everything is working afterwards.
So I'll remerge shadow after this if all goes well.

Hi,
I tried to update my world after gentoo saying me that there is a new
portage available on a x86 based system (need to install ~x86 libaio for
Oracle).
emerge -u says, that pam-login is blocked (blocked by shadow)...
I ``emerge -C shadow'' .. and emerge tells me, that pam-login is
blocked
Thanks for your help

clue why thi hick we nd for all and everything an
super truper hyper speciaal toool. ;)
Why not set up your camera to act as a USB disk?
I do it this way and use the very special tool
le with
drwx-- - changed to drwxrwx---)
Now I get a playlist but I have no sound. XMMS plays the tracks but
there isn't anything to hear.
I've unmuted even AUX (means everything) in alsamixer ... XMMS plays in
stealth mode.

Hi,
I got some MP3 files which seem not to be properly coded. The
Interpret/Title information is missing for some, other show very ugly
time information in XMMS ( -234567:21, 893767:13 i.e.) but the
frame/duration in the MP3 info is correct.
Are there any tools (preferred command line) to decode
Hi,
Does somebody know how I can get XMMS to play audio CSs? "Play audio CD"
simply cleans the playlist and doesn't do anything else.
In Preferences->Audio CD the Audio CD directory is set to /mnt/cdrom (We
don't mount audio CDs - do we?) My cdrom drive is on /dev/hdc but I
can't browse to this n

Hi again,
As the handbook mentioned udev is default for Gentoo now.
I have 1479 devices and directories in /dev after startup Hmmm, wasn't
udev (and formerly devfs) meant to have only the devices needed?
Is hotplug still an issue or is it started by bootmisc? If i plug in my

Well, that was it. I'm quite surprised because I start xterm as
``xterm -ls'', which should provide a login shell but I had to logoff
completely (terminating X and logout).

Hi,
since rebuilding my system to a stable one using the 2006.0 live CD
there are most of the icons in Evolution missing. They are replaced by
this "Broken picture" symbol or just empty (see the attachement).
Should I file a bug?
I could take them from the live CD and copy them to the proper loc
Booting the life-CD and starting the Gentoo-installer, there is no
possibility to set the date.
