mysql dies attempting to execute malformed, unknown, or privileged instructions. You should probably run # emerge --pretend --update --newuse --deep world # revdep-rebuild -i and see if this happens again. There's also no need to start from scratch when it dies. Try # /etc/init.d/mysql zap # /
